Big Ten All-Conference Awards

Corum's open field speed also a big ? Since when does a 1st Team Big Ten RB run out of bounds down the sideline when he can't out run the defense with nothing but pasture in front of him on a screen play. That was definitely not 1st Team stuff there. Thought Brown out ran Corum in the head to head match up.

Illinois had 19 players earn All-Big Ten honors in 2022, the most in program history, and 31 honorees in the last two seasons with Bret Bielema as head coach, the Illini's most ever in a two-year span.
Amazing and wild what a legitimately good coaching staff can do. And respect to the players for learning and getting better. It's frustrating Chase wasn't first-team, but 19 All-B1G honorees. This season was just so darn successful.

Just curious, has anyone done the math on big ten honorees this year by school? I wonder if any school has more than 19?

We can all gripe about Chase Brown being left off the First Team, but let's also celebrate the achievements regarding the Illini who received any sort of All Big Ten recognition. For example: Alex Pihlstrom. What a great story! Walk-on tight end a few years ago who gets little or no playing time for several seasons; puts on weight to see whether he can get on the field as an offensive lineman; gets some action last season; becomes a center for the first time this season and ultimately makes the Second Team All Big Ten roster. Awesome.

Ah yes, Howard. Of course. Holecek was a great LB too tho.
I can always remember two (and only two) of the three H's. Which one I have trouble remembering seems to vary.
Back then, I used to tell myself that Rice had an H, too, but it was invisible.

Please tell me this is a joke...

Brown being snubbed is blasphemy, especially since he played in every game and had 10 100-yard performances! Though I am sure Ibrahim's game against Iowa sealed his spot.

EDIT: Upon review, Ibrahim and Corum are deserving. Ibrahim was a beast when fully healthy. Just stinks that only two can be included. The biggest knock on Chase Brown versus the others is that he has half of the TD's. If I were to choose, I would leave Corum off 1st-Team.

Apparently TD's and yards/rush are most important factors here, instead of being a work horse. Very disappointing.
I think Chase is the best all-around back in the country.
I don't think he has the speed in the open field that Ibrahim and Corum have (that's why his TD total isn't higher). That's just one thing, but it makes the other two flashier, and, for RB's, that's what wins awards.

A=Corum/B=Robinson/C=Brown/D=Ibrahim/E=McBride/F=Abanikanda
Honestly, I could see arguments for E. Nearly 50% more yards per carry than Chase? Not enough carries, though, and too many fumbles.
Based on this, not sure how you pick A (Corum) over B (Robinson.)

Agreed based on that B is the top dog for sure. F might be second

We can use this snub to our advantage. What's decided in the press is of little value and is generally put together by follow-the-leader types. Both of the guys who got on deserved to be there; one for team success and the other for the consecutive 100 yard game streak, and both being in the same ball park yardage wise as Brown was. Of course, Brown really deserved to be there as well! So what do you do? The wimps followed the path of least resistance!

Now for our ADVANTAGE. It's on the field. Let Brown heal up and let the team rally around him in righteous anger. I pity the fool that tries to stop him with our outraged linemen blocking for him.

Let's get him 200 yards and 3 TDs!
