Buddy and I bought Saturday tickets in the Illini section of the lower bowl the *millisecond* this went final tonight. Top three priciest ticket I’ve purchased in my lifetime.

I can live with it if we lose to UConn.

I could not live with it if I passed on the opportunity to sit surrounded by my own, deep in enemy territory, the night we took down #1 to reach the Final Four.

For those in attendance, how orange and how loud for illini was it? Looked & sounded good on tv.
A chunk of the UConn crowd left beforehand and what little SDSU crowd there was originally obviously joined them, so with those gone -

I’d describe crowd at that point like 45% Illini, 25% ISU, 30% lingering Huskies.

But it was very clear who the dominant traveling fan base was in the late game tonight, no contest at any point really.

I don’t think it’ll be as lopsided crowd-wise for UConn on Saturday as some would project. I’m gonna speculate like 65-35 UConn. A lot to overcome, not insurmountable.

Make free throws.

You can all thank me for my part when we will the National Championship on 4/8.

My in-person attendance record:
Losses Wins
Michigan 89 Minneapolis 89
Arizona 01
UNC 05 Rosemont 05
Loyola 21

In addition, as you can see from my avatar, I was at the 08 Rose Bowl showing additional evidence of my bad karma. I was at Game 3 of the 16 World Series (Cubs lost for you Cardinal fans) as well as the Bartman Game in 03.

Based on my long-standing multi-sport lack of success, a year ago I planned a trip to England to visit my daughter, followed by a 2 week cruise knowing when the tournament games were scheduled. You will all be happy to know I will be over the mid-Atlantic at tip-off on Thursday. I will be at sea during our 2 Final Four victories. I have done all I can to break my jinx on the team. I ask all of you to do what you can to help the team.
So far my anti-jinx methodology is working. However, I do not recommend watching the game at 39,000 feet on BA's Wi-Fi. It sucks.

I get SDSU people leaving, souls crushed, don't care about hoops anymore, etc. But how do UConn fans not stay? Pay all that money for a ticket to begin with, see the #1 offense vs the #1 defense - great game, scout your upcoming opponent. Maybe the lateness of the day contributed but I want to see all the games I can.

Edit: and then you say you missed half the UConn game. LOL. No snark, just found this funny. I L L

If you live in Storrs or anywhere else in the Hartford area, staying to the end of the Illini game meant getting home around 2 a.m., after sitting around for a half-hour between games. I have to admit, I've been to several doubleheader games where the Illini have played first, some with really good second-game matchups. I always think that maybe I'll stay, but when the time comes, the half-hour wait usually gets me, and those are games at more decent hours.

To each their own and it was pretty late I'll agree.

Last example for me was Vegas last year. Four ranked teams, four games in two days, and I watched every minute.

I did sit through a four-game Thursday slog many years ago at the BTT. I was younger then and don't think I'd do that again. Too much for one day.

Really great to hear we had such a large (and LOUD) presence! Illini fans are almost back to that level of traveling in droves everywhere like in 2005. While it will be a relatively partisan crowd for UConn on Saturday, I will bet that very few Illini fans who were there last night don't attend this one, too ... and I bet/hope a non-negligible number of orange shirts scoop up ISU and SDSU tickets. We'll need 'em!

All good. Reason for this is because the Illini pregame presence at Hurricane’s outside the Garden was so strong we were in no rush to leave. If SDSU had been giving them a better game we might’ve headed over a bit sooner but that wasn’t to be.

I’m expecting tomorrow to be an absolute scene at the bar. If you’re in town and went elsewhere for your pregame yesterday, don’t make the same mistake twice.

Same as last night just scroll back in the thread a bit.
I don’t believe this is accurate. My IFund Rep. said the Illini sections for Saturday are Loge 2 & 3 along with Balcony 303 & 304.

They did switch last week in Omaha from Thursday and Saturday as well.

Go Illini
