And the thing is, this is a defensible position...provided you admit that a big chunk of what you are doing in the bowl game and the practices leading up to it is trying to prepare for what is actually important: the 2023 regular season.

Doesn't quite work the same way if you are taking the hardo stance of "The TaxSlayer Gator Bowl is our Thermopylae, the time for loyalty is now"

I watched the ND vs South Carolina game last night with a USC (not the "real" USC) alumnus who's on the Board of Trustees in Columbia. He indicated that Rattler is being paid ~$2M of NIL in 2022. How does this stack up to what we're seeing/paying in the Big10?

ON A BASKETBALL NOTE: I would hope that Kofi was offered more than that.

Lol.

I'm hoping Lieb was offered that and the rest of the deals scale up appropriately.

But, you know, it's not my money.

It's always easy to spend other people's money.

$1M was the number I heard mentioned.

Watched it too. The B1G officiating crew sucked (again). Especially in the last few minutes of the game (again).

Just some scale. Those first two numbers are over 35 years of bowl games (HOF, Outback, & now Reliaquest). So it's a average of $30M a year in "economic impact" - not bad, but its not earth shattering - that's about $10 per Tampa Bay area resident. The $170M over 35 years is about $2.5M a year in bowl payouts per team - which barely covers expenses (a 2014 Champaign News-Gazette article noted that at that time it cost UI $1.5M per bowl game in expenses for the Illini).

The half million a year to charity is a nice windfall, though.

Texas sure knows how to hire complete knobs to run their programs

Well, that was kinda weird wasnt it? I will say it was kinda like the guy was doing his best masseuse impression. That paw definitely lingered there, longer than what some folks might be comfortable with. Lol.
But then SS’s reaction…wow! Looked like
he was gonna kill him. I get the territorial bubble-thing…but MAYBE he could of handled that a little better. Geesh.

Big Ten has done better than I expected this year in bowls. For everyone saying the Big Ten West was weak

Wisky Minny won. Iowa up 21 at half
