Why are two large blocks of seats covered in the end zones at the Rose Bowl? Never seen that before.
Wrestling just introduced a new singlet that's very similar to the white script Illinois basketball jersey. Don't know how Nike would feel about it, but I'd be for that motif to keep spreading with a script "Illini" helmet because "Illinois" might be too long.

I believe that's been SOP for UCLA home games there recently, given the demand for tickets. Have never seen it in a Rose Bowl game.

It's depressing to see sparse crowds at the Rose Bowl watching a UCLA football team that can't even entice fans to come to their games with free tickets.

My suspicion as well. Utah can only fill so much stadium - they said on the broadcast Utah had 55,000 at a game earlier this year and it was a record.

I've been predicting recession in the sports industry for years, but as much as I'd like to gloat about stuff like this, it's hard to ignore the (hopefully) temporary effect of covid.
Though, it's still a multi-year period in which lots of die hard customers are being forced to live at more of a distance from their teams. The number that come fully back won't be 100%.
(Btw the reason those particular seats are tarped off might be covid-related)

Of course the other thing to say about this is that OSU's fanbase is clearly fantasizing about leaving the Big Ten for a college football Premier League spawned from the SEC at this point. So is ESPN's leadership. A pox upon all of them.

Yes, unfortunately Nohio State pulls it out. Good for the B1G, bad for all of humankind.
It looked to me like tO$U had so much more talent at every position it was embarrassing for it to even be close. Utah had a running back covering their best receiver, for Pete's sake.

That was an entertaining Rose Bowl Game. 85,000 in attendance, which is impressive given the Covid situation. I've seen UCLA cover those end zone seats before; pretty terrible sight lines from there.

The backup qb got a touchdown in the only possession he played. One of the few situations where a qb going down didn’t hurt the team (unless you’re arguing that they scored too quickly). Utahs inability to keep osu’s 2 min drill from being run to perfection was the issue.

His first possession was the one where he got in the game after the sack. He started the possession on a 2nd & 16.
But overall, I agree. It didn’t seem like QB1 going down made a big difference in the game.

Just saw that LSU got beat up by Kstate 20-42. LSU scored a couple of late TDs in garbage time to make the score look better. Great start by Kelly

Thought I heard that LSU had something like 38 scholly players available for the game.
