Projection: Illinois vs. LSU

LSU's likely bowl destination enhanced considerably with Saturday's win over previously-unbeaten Ole Miss. It was the second straight notable win for first-year coach Brian Kelly, whose team could win nine games and reach one of the SEC's top-tier games. Illinois plays Michigan in a couple of weeks and if it wins the Big Ten West, would face the Wolverines or Ohio State in Indianapolis.

I highly doubt we see both Michigan and osu make it into the CFP if Clemson wins out. The top 2 SEC schools will make it in, the osu/mich winner will and an undefeated Clemson trumps a one loss Mich/osu. I don’t agree with that decision but the committee has laid out precedent for not including the possibility for rematches unless there aren’t viable replacements which Clemson absolutely would. That would push us to the outback bowl or worse sadly.

The annual default playoff is Alabama, Georgia, Clemson and tO$U, with modifications made if and only if one of those four falters. It will be the same this year. But then I'm a cynic.

It's gotten just like hoops with the big 4 and everyone else. Worse than the pros, where at least the champions draft last. But the same 8 teams just reload every year, with the occasional falter as mentioned.

I'd be surprised if a true trophy rivalry game has been played in a power 5 conference championship game before. I would have to imagine they would bring the Illibuck. There is no reason not to include it a special part of the pageantry of the B1G conference. I bet it would even be preferential to add some historical legitimacy to what many will probably consider an afterthought conference championship game where everyone will assume OSU will crush us.

Pretty sure that was the line up posted the day after last seasons final. Nothing has changed
