I really want a January 2 bowl for the team and recruiting, but I hate the thoughts of playing LSU. I still have nightmares from my Bourbon Street experiences before the 02 Sugar Bowl. Talk about your awful fan bases.
I hated LSU for years after that game, but I've been to about ten or so LSU games since then and the fan base really isn't that bad. Other SEC teams are much worse.

What time is the official announcement today?

And at what time (prior to that) will our insiders be able to confirm with 100% certainty? Hoping for Citrus, but it doesn't yet seem etched in stone.

I think games roll out throughout the day.

You mean the LSU that just got completely blown out of the water by Georgia. That LSU. Cause I watched the Sugar bowl many years ago and this LSU team is pretty good but not in the same league as that team. What I am trying to say is yeah! We'll play them!

Not the team - the bloody fans. I'd rather we not share a city with them again.

Apparently Purdue getting stomped against Michigan helped our cause. We were the best team to play them this year so far.
Say again! They beat us head to head. That's got to count for something.

But Losing to Michigan by 2 is much better than losing by 3 TD's. Michigan is the 2nd best team in the country. I think the results with what Michigan did carries more weight than us losing to Purdue. They beat OSU and the team in the Big Ten Championship game by 3 TD's.

I've actually had great experiences with LSU fans - just various encounters in bowl cities (I've done some trips unrelated to Illini football).

Half of LSU's team probably won't even play and a bunch of ours won't either. Not really worth getting worked up over matchups.

of course the Citrus Bowl wants a good game to keep viewers interested from start to finish

but WAY more important than that is how many Illini fans spend the day , the night or the weekend in Orlando , buying meals , drinks and hotel rooms , and how many eyeballs watch the game .

The bowls exist to get fans in the cities and fannies in seats
