For those procrastinators who've put off buying their BTT tickets until the last minute, now is the time. Lower level tickets start at $4 for behind the basket seats. I am guessing Illinois is the nine seed and got third row Section 120 near their bench for less than $25.

I wish I would have held off, ticket prices are lower than I've ever seen them. Just wait until next year at MSG.:D
Prices will increase for later in the week, particularly Saturday. Hotel prices have collapsed too (for D.C. that is)
You did well to wait.

What the hell man! We need you behind the opponents bench ranting and hollering non-stop!

Don't understand why Mich is being hyped up so much. They're slightly higher than us in RPI and while they have better wins than we do it's not like they deserve a bid so much more than the Illini...

http://www.cbssports.com/collegebasketball/bracketology/team-comparison/ILL/MICH

They are sub-50 RPI, which I think carries a lot of weight. Otherwise, it is a very similar resume. Where they are better - they have more "signature" wins. Ours is VCU - theirs is SMU and Purdue (plus Wisconsin, but that one is looking less and less prestigious as the days go by).

We will have our opportunity, we just need to hopefully get past Rutgers tomorrow, then Michigan/Purdue likely await in the BTT.

If we want to claim to be a lock, we are going to need to take all of them. Beat RU and MICH and lose to Purdue, we are likely sweating it out.

So if Illinois State loses today they are probably out the way it looks

Iowa
SOS - 48
RPI - 90
Teams ranked 1-50 - 4-8
Teams ranked 51-100 - 3-3
Teams ranked 101-200 - 4-2 (108 Memphis neutral court, 142 Nebraska Omaha at home)
Teams ranked 201+ - 5-0

Illinois
SOS - 18
RPI - 56
Teams ranked 1-50 - 5-8
Teams ranked 51-100 - 6-4
Teams ranked 101-200 - 1-0
Teams ranked 201+ - 5-0

Has to be the RPI and the loss to Memphis and even more so to Nebraska Omaha.

Thanks for the info. I guess their 4 top-50 wins are all against ranked teams. Seems like they've had consistency issues worse then ours.

Without a doubt. Go Evansville... Evansville's MVC team!

Evansville finished 6-12 in the MVC. They've been hot lately (6-2 over last 8), but I doubt they beat ISU. Fingers crossed I guess - we need all the help we can get.

So wake forest will be playing at Virginia tech. Go Hokies! Syracuse will be playing Georgia tech. Not sure who we want to win here. Georgia tech?

Evansville hanging in there against ISU: 43-37 Redbirds early second half.

GTech fans seem to think this is a "win and you're in" type of game. Their resume is still very soft. Not sure who to root for. I'd like for GT to go away.

on stub hub, direct from verizon center or elsewhere?

I wound up getting them on StubHub. The same tickets show up on about five different scalper sites for slightly different prices. StubHub had a lower delivered price than did the others. I bought just one ticket. Total price goes even lower if you spread the cost of delivery over several games.

The evening session is a fair amount higher. I do not plan to attend unless Illinois lucks into the seven seed.

Well, if Michigan wins and Iowa loses their next game, my nine seed seating logic will put me at the end of the Iowa bench.

Last time I had courtside seats I was behind the Illini in Brooklyn against West Virginia. That did not turn out too well.

I only watched a bit of the ISU game, but they've got some good players. Looking at their resume, though, despite the gaudy win total I think they need to win the MVC tournament. No real good wins apart from Wichita State and a few bad losses (Murray State, Tulsa). They played a weak non-con slate - best wins are probably Fresno St and New Mexico. They missed opportunities to pick up top-100 RPI wins against TCU and San Francisco.

If ISU wins the MVC tournament, though, and gets the auto-bid, I think Wichita State is in no matter what.

Wichita State: 29-4 (17-1); RPI - 40; P5 wins over LSU (by 35! I know they suck, but wow), Oklahoma, Colorado State; no bad losses and kept it close against both MSU and Louisville

Only 3 of their wins are over ranked teams. Might be just 2 if Wisconsin loses to MN.

As of last night ESPN had them as 4-3 vs AP top 25. Maybe they persist the team's ranking at the time they played? Either way, I think Iowa is outside looking in, so I'm not trying to argue them as a better bubble team, just didn't expect to see that on their resume.

I mean, either way, the Committe doesn't give a flyin' crap about "the top 25," much less who was in it in December or January (and out of it now)! :D
