Yeah, I have no evidence for this but I always assumed that the later it gets in the season, the less a team moves up or down? No real idea, though. However, look at the movement from two (currently) bottom tier Big Ten teams beating cupcakes yesterday:

Maryland 105, Alcorn State 65. Maryland goes from #180 --> #153.
Minnesota 101, IUPUI 65. Minnesota goes from #115 --> #97.

So those results alone pushed a home win vs. Maryland from a Quad 4 to a Quad 3 and a Big Ten Tournament (neutral) win vs. Minnesota from a Quad 3 to a Quad 2.
Margin of victory definitely matters for the current iteration of NET rankings. Beating up on cupcakes (by 40 or 50 points) has a huge affect on a team's ranking. One good example of this is Iowa State. They're currently ranked #5 in net by beating up on sub-300 teams. They have lost their only two games against top 50 teams but it didn't move them much at all.

NET caps victories at 10 points. Running up the score matters less now as opposed to being efficient on offense and defense.

Here is a tweet from the NCAA’s NET page (updated 27 Nov 23) that explains it.

Edit: It looks like they may have dropped off sections 3, 4, and 5…and that the current algorithm is unknown. So at this point who knows just how much scoring margin factors in. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Looking at this more closely, margin of victory beyond 10 points could still factor in because it would lead to a larger spread in offensive and defensive efficiency (box 2). That is news to me — I hadn't seen a breakdown this granular of NET. Thanks for sharing.

Which is kind of noteworthy, because Dauster specifically likes to talk about how important a stud PG is to deep tournament runs.
It certainly doesn't hurt to have one and there is truth that the position is critical come tournament play.

That said, I think that the PG by committee(positionless basketball) can work if each part of the committee does their job consistently. We'll see how consistent we are starting next week. It'll be interesting!

Can't argue with the results to date!

I subscribe to www.parsedsports.com (for wagering purposes) and here is their latest live bracket. They have us as a 3 seed and making it to the Elite 8, FWIW.
