Lets just hope Bruce Weber can hold on to his job or we might be like OSU in the future. Good hire none the less.

He left OSU in large part because of his relationship with the AD. If he and Josh maintain a good relationship and we are winning games it would be a bit odd to jump to KSU which would be a lateral move at best.

This recruiting class, especially with smith, will do things we haven't seen here in a longggg time in this system. Let's hope the Walker rumor is true and he's staying.

Let's all take a moment to remember that almost nothing worthwhile was discussed over the last 5,000 posts of the IL Coaching Search thread. Sad!

Smith does want to play an uptempo style...and it doesn't get much more uptempo than this!

So I heard something in the past 90 minutes that I can't tell if I was being pranked or not. I was told that JW's top target is a very very successful P5 coach who's name I haven't seen (nor would have ever thought of being "available") listed as a potential hire.

I won't say who because I refuse to believe it's true.

Idk if Reno was talking about Underwood, but if I were him I would take credit for this. Maybe "very very successful" is a stretch, but this kinda seems to clearly fit Underwood. It also makes sense if Underwood has been Groce's guy all along, which he probably was.

Didn't see this one coming with all the other smoke screens out there. Good hire in my opinion. I like his offense and he has had success everywhere he has coached. JW did his homework and brought in a good coach who will lead the Illini back from the wasteland. I also saw that Demonte Williams is still committed, Trent Frasier tweeted a photo in an Illini jersey. Tillman and Pickett are still quiet on their intentions. However, no player is bigger than the Illinois basketball program.

Those questioning may want to get (back) on the train... its departing.

We have a great AD until he eventually takes over for Uncle Jim. This is a great hire.

Wowza! Understand that Underwood.....is to offensive X and O basketball, as Tony Bennett is to shutdown defense. And I would rather have Underwood vs. Tony Bennett based on how entertaining his teams are. He will be a solid leader who will recruit to his system and he will WIN a lot of basketball games. Basketball will be fun again at the State Farm Center and great assistant coaches should be clamoring to be a part of this and learn his offensive system. Walker, Tilmon, Frazier, etc. would be crazy to jump ship now. Great work JW! Home run!

He's got the most conference wins in 3 years in the history of college basketball during his tenure at SFA.

Our last hire went 34-30 in the MAC.
