And to clarify, 'progress' is NOT 6-6. He needs 8 (minimum, and he better not get blown out)
8 wins and no blowouts is our best season by far in 9 years. That's more than just progress.

A blowout to a team like PSU next year and he should be done.

Penn State has hired former Illinois DC Tim Banks as co-DC / safeties coach http://footballscoop.com/the-scoop/
God, your posts are totally triggering me. The mess??? You mean the mess CUBIT WAS A CONTRIBUTOR TO? And what are you describing as a mess? There were no sanctions from Beckman's actions, and no player transfer/loss. Just bad press. What is the mess you're referring to, and how is Cubit NOT a direct contributor?? The roster for this season was significantly better than a 5-7 team that lost 39-0 to Penn State, 24-14 to Northwestern (and it wasn't that close) and 38-27 to Minnesota.
Cubit's trended straight downward in CU since he lost Nate under center. We got the worst possible scenario in hiring a bad coach who is nowhere near deserving of the head coaching position, and the national media should be calling us out on that. The two year contract is just laughable when we could've had a 4 year with really weak buyout terms (in essence, a 2 year, but without making us a national laughingstock).
I'm being realistic when I say there were attainable candidates, and the entire situation was self-imposed. Firing MT late with no plans in place -- our fault. Keeping Cubit on a sh****, embarrassing contract -- our fault. Not even TESTING THE WATERS in the carousel -- our own stupid fault. The entire process was inexcusable, and the end result was equally inexcusable.
You can be as mad at the situation you want, but it was the situation our team was in. The timing on the MT firing was terrible for us in terms of hiring a new coach. With no AD there was no way we were going to get a quality coach from outside the program. Keeping Cubit was the right choice. He is a solid coach with a great character. The players never quit on him, and many spoke out positively about retaining him. Stability has its value.
I disagree. Our interim AD could have hired Babers with a normal contract even without a permanent AD in place. And there are plenty of head coaches who have taken jobs without knowing who their boss was. There have been several examples of this since this whole fiasco started so that isn't an excuse.
If a HC succeeds, it won't matter who the AD is, their job will be safe. (barring no violations of any sort)
Cubit was not the right choice, he was the easiest/most convenient to cover your a## choice.
Bucs are hiring Southern Miss coach Todd Monken as their new offensive coordinator. Was WRs coach with Jaguars when Koetter coached there.
Interesting. Koetter is calling his own plays, so essentially get to be a WR coach.

Interesting decision by Monken, he just seemed to have turned around Southern Miss....

Just know, fellow posters, that if the Lovie thing hadn't happened and we were playing out the string with Cubit this year, my Jeff Monken advocacy would be bordering on maniacal right now.
Jeff Monken was my highschool football coach!
Interesting! And? Your thoughts?
