And more to the point, next season when Illinois is in the playoff discussion with an SEC team with the same number of losses, we want the narrative to be, "none of the SEC teams, even the ones ranked highly, looked good in last year's playoffs, while the Big Ten proved they belonged."

I understand hating OSU. I do too. But rooting for Texas is rooting against your own self interest if you are an Illinois football fan.

We should be rooting for OSU to win by 100.
Agreed. If OSU were to demolish Texas, plainly and simply, it'd be nearly impossible to say that the top 4 teams in the nation this year weren't 3 from the B10 and Notre Dame. If OSU were to win the whole thing, my end of season ballot would probably look like:

1. OSU
2. Oregon
3. Notre Dame
4. Penn State

Sure I would like BIG 10 Ohio state to win outright for the BIG 10 sake, not the Buckeye sake. Sorry, it just fries me to see the bought and paid for teams win over teams who have to out hussle and coaching staff strategize to win. I had never heard of Boise State, but clearly remember them beating Oklahoma in the bowl game under Chris Patterson.

Is Bleacher report in the SEC’s pocket too?

From the article:

Hmmm, I seem to recall ANOTHER team that was given a bye that also lost their quarterfinal matchup.

Maybe one that was mentioned about 14 words earlier in the same article?
I have lived in GA for 20 years and UGA is my second favorite team. I also noticed that BS.

To be fair, the byes for the top 4 champions needs to go. They can AQ, but give the byes to the best 4 teams.
The only issue with "best" is who decides who is best? It allows for the SEC bias in the media and would set the bracket to favor them. I prefer guidelines that remove bias from the equation. In reality, I would rather see 16 teams and no byes.

Look at Texas's schedule. It's really not that impressive either. What's their best regular season win? A 17-7 win over an 8-5 Texas A&M team that lost to USC in their bowl game (and that ND also beat)? Their win over a very meh Michigan team in the first game of the season? 3-point win over Vandy?

In the playoffs I think ND has looked better than Texas, against tougher competition (there is absolutely zero reason to think Clemson or ASU are tougher opponents than any of the teams ND played). And there's also the fact that ND beat a Georgia team that Texas lost to twice.

I think OSU is the clear favorite to win the whole thing. I think they take care of Texas pretty easy. I think they beat ND too, but I do think ND is a tougher game for them than Texas will be. And I'll admit, the complete dud the SEC has been in the playoffs and bowls does significantly affect my thinking on this.
That's fair, and I can't argue the schedule for Texas.

I would be curious what ASU would have looked like against either Indiana or Georgia because while year long metrics aren't kind to them I feel like they've been playing at a higher level over the past four or five games.

And while Texas lost to Georgia twice Georgia also had Beck for both meetings with Texas, though admittedly Georgia handled them the first go around and lost Beck part way through the second game.

It's just one rating system, but I think to your point, using F+ ND and Texas are essentially the same team while OSU is clearly above everyone else. So, if Texas gives OSU a game tonight it might be reasonable to expect a decent game between OSU and ND.

Should be a couple of interesting games to close out the year.

It's ok to admit, ND is a very good football team.

This has been my view of college sports forever. The big name teams have overwhelming talent advantages (NIL hasn’t changed that). I’ll always hope the less “establishment” team can pull it out.

Revenue sharing has separated the "haves" and the "have-a-lot-mores" from the "we're-just-happy-to-be-heres"

At this point all of the teams left are the bought and paid for teams, so at least let's get our conference to be the champion.

These announcers are such Ohio State homers acting Ohio State is dominating the game and Texas is lucky to be in it when Texas has more yards than Ohio State. What are they watching?

First half analysis: Buckeyes made it look easy right away and then just kind of screwed around for 20 minutes, let Texas tie and then immediately scored again.
