SEC bowl performance, with one team remaining:

Alabama 34, Oklahoma 24
Ole Miss 41, Tulane 10
Miami 10, Texas A&M 3
Virginia 13, Missouri 7
Houston 38, LSU 35
Illinois 30, Tennessee 28
Texas 41, Michigan 27
Iowa 34, Vanderbilt 27
Indiana 38, Alabama 3
Ole Miss 39, Georgia 34
Wake Forest 43, Mississippi State 29

So their best performance was either beating themselves, walloping a G5 Tulane team or overcoming a 4th quarter deficit to Michigan.

Also, though I don't want to dwell too long on hypothetical, had Miami won the ACC and ND slipped in as the 11 seed, I am fairly confident they beat Ole Miss and Georgia (they were clearly a better team at the end of the year, though Miami did upset OSU despite being the worse team, so nothing is certain). So if anything the Duke chaos probably spared the SEC further embarrassment.

No question they had no business fielding 5 playoff teams though.

To add to that Cigetti found players in the portal… mostly G5 guys that fit his system and the “types “ he wanted. He inherited very little from the existing team. He found the players he needed! I think he brought 5 staff members with him and they were acquired over several years. Brought 13 players with him to bring a culture! Bottom line… he did not walk in and build from scratch. Overnight success… never seen anyone do that before!
They are btw…the enemy! But I do respect what he has done!
Biggest question I have: How does Bret go to the next level? He has taken the program to a good place… how do we get higher?

Michigan letting the conference down is another reason to dislike them.

After thinking about it more and trying to as fair and unbiased towards the SEC as possible, I’ve come to this conclusion:

The SEC superiority is complete bulls**t inflated by fake recruiting ratings leading to better AP poll rankings and advanced metrics designed to sell subscriptions and advertising space to the SEC’s large fan bases.

It’s simply that’s what people are used to - the SEC was the best conference for many years and people haven’t yet adjusted their views to the new reality.

And the Big Ten has larger fan bases.

This Ole Miss situation is crazy- the assistants who have a National semifinal game in four days are at LSU recruiting transfer portal players and the HC has no idea which assistants are showing up for the game let alone preparing the players for the game.

Meanwhile Lane Kiffin is making it clear he’s in constant contact with Golding (current HC), presumably so if they win the NC without him, he can claim some credit!

it’s absolutely nuts

While I don't expect anything to really change, at least this whole Ole Miss-LSU situation has finally shone a bright light on what a poop show college sports is. Between this and the Baylor situation in basketball, no one can claim to not understand that if we still follow this (and I still do), then we are following a deeply flawed structure.

Article kind if ticked me off, as I hate outsiders talking !!!!, even if he is being complimentary out the side of his mouth.
He went on to say, "...mizzou and Tenn are Minnesota now..." That made me smile.
He wrapped up by saying 3 loss SEC teams should stop getting the benefit of the doubt in bubble scenarios as it relates to the CFP.
Its a topic discussed here frequently, early season poll bias, and of course a questionable at best Alabama team in the playoff.
Its good to have our name next to Alabama in a national paper, yeah I know, USA Today, but people read it.
I am glad the topic has made its way into a more national conversation.

Generally speaking, I can't stand it when reporters make a bunch of backhanded and "catching strays" comments like this one. He thinks he's being clever and making good analogies, but in all honesty it's flat-out laziness.

This is school-agnostic, not just saying this because the article kicking all of this off referenced Illinois in this manner.
