Part of it is I truly think Cignetti is some kind of football savant the likes of which rarely come around. Like a football version of a Ric Majerus type who just drastically improves the program everywhere he is at.

And he hit IU at the right time, was able to bring a crew from JMU & use the portal to fill some gaps after showing great success in year 1.

He appears to be a bit of a unicorn if you will. Not reasonable to expect that to be duplicated other places. Bret is doing a fantastic job here & I think he has the coaching chops to contend at the highest levels if we can get talent commensurate with that level.
Or he cheats- one of the two

I think it’s interesting that Miami’s DC was Cignetti’s DC at James Madison.

Hold up. This thread exists and is continuing as though the CFP is still happening.

I'm absolutely positive the CFP ended when all of the SEC teams were eliminated. If there are no SEC remaining, there cannot be a national champion.

This game being played after an intense NFC divisional weekend where 2 of the 4 games went OT & a lot of us were deeply invested in the Bears game seems a bit anticlimactic.

Among the changes that the power brokers are making to the whole thing, getting the CFP over with prior to the start of the NFL playoffs has to priority A. It loses so much national pub & buzz once the NFL fires up it's playoffs. Everything gets swallowed up.

I'm sorry, but Indiana is not scUM, not Ped State, not Ohio State. They are not Bob Knight. They are the Big Ten. They are David vs Goliath. They are the best college football story in decades. While we might be jealous of their success, it does not diminish what they have accomplished. It should inspire us by showing what can be achieved in this new era of college football. Indiana all the way for me.

I think this one will be close. Miami is an uber-talented team, but the indiscipline that we saw from the canes last game may be their undoing. I think Indiana's coaching pulls them over the line in the end.

When they talk about all of these teams and the path to the CFP Championship, I really wish they would mention how much they have spent on their rosters.
