Dan Pompei in his postgame observations put it perfectly. If you don't start Trubisky next Monday night, then you start Mark Sanchez. Glennon has proven that he can't succeed and if the Bears think that Trubisky still isn't ready then you have to go to Sanchez. A QB change has to be made even if it's not going to Trubisky.

The biggest worry I'd have with starting Trubisky if he's ready is the defenses he plays the next 3 weeks (vs. Minnesota, @ Baltimore, vs. Carolina).

Exactly. From an entertainment perspective I'm glad Trubisky is starting. But I think they should've waited until after the bye. Against these 3 defenses, the best we can hope for is Trubisky looking average.

Another problem is Deshaun Watson is tearing up the league at the moment. When Trubisky inevitably struggles against these great defenses, the whole world is going to be asking why the Bears didn't take Watson. It's about the toughest situation a rookie QB could be coming into.

Eh I'll believe in Watson a bit more if he can put the type of numbers he has against a tough D like KC that he'll play next week and then Seattle after Houston's bye. He put it up against New England (whose D is god awful) and Tennessee's (who isn't much better).

Aside from the one fumble he had in the first half, Trubisky hasn't looked too bad. He's been okay. And at the very least he gives Bears fans at least a little bit of hope for what he can do with what offensive players they do have.

I'm actually glad the Bears fell behind so they will have to open up the offense and we can see what Trubisky can do.

Mitchell Trubisky throws his first career TD pass on a tipped ball to Zach Miller.

And then score on a 2 point conversion on a beautiful fake that ended up with Trubisky scoring it.

That 2 point conversation play was sick. Big props to Dowell for that. I don’t do football x and o stuff, but from all the games I’ve watched I’ve never seen a play like.

Secondly, excited to see Trubisky develop but still hoping we lose every game from here on out for a top 1-3 pick

Trubisky's final line in his first game: 12-25, 128 yards, 1 TD, 1 INT.
His numbers were less than I expected, but a lot of things went against him in the first half (teammate penalties). At least the Bears have a young rookie qb that looks like he has the tools to be decent at some point in the future. It will be interesting to see how he develops in the weeks ahead and how much more of the offense will be opened up for him. But for goodness sakes, these receivers.......

The stats weren't there. But the presence, the physical tools... he seems to have all the ingredients. He looks better at this point of his career than Grossman or (ugh!) McNown did.

Low bars, admittedly. But I think his biggest problem at this point is the lack of help at the receiver position. The Bears WRs are a joke.

Oh! Great stat:

Trubisky now has more career passing yards than every QB drafted by the Bears since 2006 combined. (David Fales, Nathan Enderle and Dan LeFevour.)

Couple of Bears related things that just happened:

-Bears defense getting an INT??? Say whaaa?????
-Bears with another trick play out of their playbook?? Tarik Cohen to Zach Miller with a TD on a halfback pass.
