When they pull Fields in this one, they're not gonna put a developmental QB out there to get killed. Better to let Peterman take any punishment from the Chiefs defense once Fields gets benched.
Name something Peterman has done...of course they would put him in...I would also add that our whole team is developmental...

Do you think the Chiefs should have put in their developmental QB if they were active ahead of Blaine Gabbert once they took Mahomes out?
Yes...how else are you going to develop them...plus playing against the Bears easy choice. I think you're selling Bagent short...he never looked out of sorts anytime he played..I don't think the game is too big for him to play some 4th qtr minutes and why take a chance of Fields getting hurt in a useless 4th qtr...

Maybe the Bears don't want Bagent to become Caleb Hanie 2.0

What are you talking about? Dobbs is in his 7th season as an NFL QB and he's only starting because Arizona is tanking until Kyler comes back.
Exactly...I hadn't even heard of him until the announcement...when did he develop...hope he's not Fields in 3 yrs...

I'm pretty sure he started the final two weeks last season for the Titans including what amounted to a playoff elimination game against the Jaguars the final week of the season. Prior to that, he was a backup most of his career, including his first few seasons in Pittsburgh when he was a backup to Big Ben. He's not some unknown but he wasn't expected to be as good as Fields coming out of college either since he was a late 4th round pick.

I think the Bears should start by firing the current offensive and defensive coordinators....

Then, fire the team ownership into the sun.

Their offense is awful; their defense is worse. there has got to be an organized, disciplined coach around somewhere who can make some improvements over these clowns.

A rookie general manager, a rookie head coach, a rookie offensive coordinator and a non-existent defensive coordinator?

What could go wrong? It WAS the super bowl champs that they were playing, but that doesn't account for them having players out of position on every play!

A loose secondary? Are they and the Illini using the same defensive playbook?

Last game I'll watch for a loooong while!

Eberflus should be done. Today, not at the end of the year. But there's some nonsense about the Bears not firing a coach mid season.

Well they literally are going to end Justin's career at this rate, when there's actually potential, however unlikely, for him to actually be good. It's worse than Nagy at this point. Could at least BELIEVE he was trying to do the right thing by starting Dalton and not really having a gameplan for Fields. Not defending Nagy or anything, but if Fields is a bust, the CURRENT staff will be far more to blame.

Can't put Justin put there to throw screens and expect him to grow. Can't have a soft defense that can't get the ball back and expect him to have any opportunities to grow. This Bears team is an abysmal failure, and they should trade Justin for whatever they can get for him before they destroy him and rebuild from scratch.

I thought the Eberflus/Poles hires were pretty meh but I was willing to see how their vision for this football team would play out.

13 consecutive losses, the defense being awful with a defensive minded HC running an outdated scheme and the second coming of John Shoop calling plays is not nearly a good enough vision. I'm at the point where everyone needs to be replaced...again.

Can they pull a Deion and wipe the roster and start over?

Unfortunately, the common denominator in all of this are the McCaskeys. Futility will continue with that family in charge.

Agreed but unfortunately you can’t fire the owners so we just have to hope they luck into the right hires at some point.

Not watching this team till there's a new staff. Have better things to do with my time

The most cursed sports fan in the Universe right now is both a fan of the Chicago Bears and the Chicago White Sox. Two terribly run, pathetic professional sports franchises. The Window of Opportunity slammed hard shut on the group of players the Sox had assembled in recent years. And another door is slamming shut on a football QB that seems completely lost while wearing Bears colors. He may still yet have a future in the NFL -- but it will not be in the current uniform he's wearing.

Both of these organizations need a deep cleansing on field, in the exective offices, and in the bad karma both groups are carrying around.

And if fans of both teams also start to find better things to do... you'll be amazed at the number of mowed lawns... repainted houses... cleaned gutters... swept porches and sidewalks... and frequent trips to the barber shop youi'll see around Chicagoland these days. Not to mention some 'other activities' that might see an increase.
