I'm from Park Ridge and there's no effing way Park Ridge would ever want a professional team. I have no idea why they even came up in this conversation other than a Metra line runs through the town. The Metra stop right outside Arlington Park would be great, and if the State and city ponied up to help with the infrastructure, it would be a lot easier for people to drive and park, too. Not to mention getting a real tailgating scene since the Chicago Park Districts open the lots late and kick people out early.

I'd prefer they stay in Chicago, but let's not pretend there aren't some significant upsides to having the team in Arlington Heights if that's where they ultimately end up.
Yeah, there is no land in Park Ridge anyway. My point which many seem to be missing is that in the Chicago region a stadium should to be at a significant central node with a lot of population and transportation from all directions near it. Anywhere near downtown qualifies, anywhere near O'Hare qualifies, the towns around Oak Brook qualify. Arlington Heights, is a nice Village, but it does not. Naperville is also a stretch. I agree with Roundball Sage about the northern drift of region's center of influence, which is why I believe that the Michael Reese site is not as appealing as some in the City would hope.

The Bezos thing is pretty interesting but probably wild speculation. If true it would be a great development for the region--the transformation of south Lake Union in Seattle, largely driven by Amazon, is pretty amazing. I also think it would solidify a downtown location. Owning a professional sports team is billionaire ego, and putting it downtown would satisfy that ego. Ironically, even though someone like him doesn't need the financial support, he'd probably have better luck negotiating with Pritzker and the City than the McCaskey's. They love rubbing elbows with guys like him. Bezos is like 60x richer than Pritzker.

Zero knowledge about the real estate pros/cons in Arlington Heights. But I do know that here in AZ. When the Cardinals stadium was built it was on farmland on the fringe of Glendale. Now, It's completely surrounded by commercial businesses and housing and new freeways. Growing leaps and bounds.... still. A development of this nature can certainly spur growth around it, of that I have no doubt. Yeah, first few years it may seem silly to have built there, it's no longer that way here. It WILL change the makeup of those who choose to attend games/events. I've not been to the State Farm Stadium even once. It's distance from me being on the East end of the PHX metro area whereas it is on the extreme West side of the PHX metro area, makes it a no-go for the casual fan like me. But there are tons of new casual fans from the West side to take my place. Is AH a similar geographic site that will have the same effect???? You tell me.

Bears, Jags, Panthers are vying for worst organizations in the NFL. Bears should have given Harbaugh whatever he wanted to rebuild them. Caleb, Fields, “insert QB”…ain’t it. You need a coach/GM first.

I think you can pencil this sad sack group in at 4-13. It’s just hopeless though as the McCaskeys are so clueless.

not sure why a coach could want to come to a dysfunctional organization like this. it was reported about Ben Johnson: "he’ll be looking for organizational alignment — in particular between the GM and head coach."
