I don’t think his decisions necessarily say all that much about his confidence in Caleb. I think they say more about the performance of and his confidence in Swift and the OL increasing. First 4 games, Bears averaged 27 carries per game. That’s the same amount of rushes they had against Washington in first game after bye. The difference was instead of averaging under 3 yards a carry as they did in the two games prior to the bye, they averaged 5.4 ypc first game back. Last week they had 40 carries against Saints and averaged 5.6 ypc.So coming out of the bye Johnson has decided to just go smash mouth on offense and lean on the defense. Which is interesting and the sign of a good coach because I’m sure that’s the opposite of what he wants to do.
