I’d rather take the ball first so you have the advantage of having the ball in sudden death first if both teams are tied after each possessing the ball.Again though, this isn't college (and this seems to be what people are mixing up). Doing it the way the NFL is doing it is the fairest way to do it. Would you rather the game be over after the team that had the ball first scored a TD?
I think the fairest way to play so a coin toss doesn’t mean as much is to implement the college rule where each team possesses the ball in each OT period. I wouldn’t have possessions start at the 25 though I’d still have it be a regular game and you start at the 30 of your own end. If you fail to score other team starts on their 30. If they fail to score you go to the next OT period and alternate who gets the ball starting out.
Rams had the ball twice in OT and scored. Bears only once. And Bears lose so I don’t think that’s fair although again Bears won the coin toss and it didn’t have to be that way
