So sad. Wanted to enjoy a beautiful early autumn Sunday afternoon of good Bears football. Have had very few good Bears Sundays since 1963 and 85-86 season. Bears ain't no monsters of no Midway no more. I miss Rick Casares and the guys.

Johnson out indefinitely, no surprise.
With how long he was out the first time, I wouldn't be surprised if he were not much of a factor this year. "Healthy by Thanksgiving, but having to get back into game shape." Bears out of it, he plays sparingly last couple of games. I am not normally this much of a pessimist. I was just surprised that he missed essentially all of training camp with the injury the first time.

Now requiring surgery and out for the year.

I realize it’s only a one game sample size for each, but I remember when we played Michigan thinking Loveland was a very very good player, but thinking “OMG. What do we even do with this guy?” When watching Warren.

So I raised my eyebrows a bit when, given other roster needs, we chose 1. To use a first round pick on a TE. And 2. That TE was Loveland, not Warren. Only a 2 game sample size so who knows but Warren looks like an instant impact game changer (the Colts are 2-0 starting Daniel Jones!) and Loveland can’t seem to get on the field.

Not really a point to my story, just more of the same. Can never figure out what the Bears are thinking.

As hard as it is to say anything nice about a Mich alum, he does seem to catch everything within the area code that he is in. Several fully extended arms catches so far (including preseason).

They could have done what Atlanta did signing 2 studs on the d-line but instead they waste picks on a tight end and a wide receiver. The d-line was a glaring weakness. As is cornerback, even before Johnson got hurt. And offensive tackle.

They need to get young and build through the draft. The problem is Poles is clueless and in way over his head.

Ha. Yes. Burden too. I do like him as a player and they likely got value for him (may be a first round talent they got in the second round), but certainly seemed like a luxury given they had DJ and Rome.

The other two 2nd rd picks were both healthy scratches last game...
