Chicago Blackhawks 2025-2026

It's a fine add. He's a fourth liner. If he's used on a second or first line or he blocks one of the young guys, then it will be a bad trade.

Davidson is not that dumb. 4th liner all the way and PK w/Dickinson. nothing stops this (rebuild) train

I guess not a lot of preseason excitement for Hawks since this thread was buried on page 2 when accessing from my phone. Didn’t see the game, but nice showing by second line. Now let’s get the first line humming.

plenty to be excited about, but the Hawks are a bottom 5 team most likely. the great news is that a lot of kids are close or closer. and then there's a second and third wave behind them. the veteran placeholder days are nearly over. Frondell is tearing up the SHL as a 19 yo. Kantserov is tearing up the KHL on an expiring contract at 21. really looking forward to seeing Moore and Lardis in Rockford. not hard to imagine a much stronger team next year

Question is whether they will ever have a capable coach who can lead them to the promised land?

Do you have anyone in mind?

I'm neutral on Blashill at this point. Was reading a write up about the first game and apparently the Hawks had a hard time getting into the O zone late in the third so he called timeout, wrote up something on the board which proved successful. They didn't score but at least that strategy allowed them to have a chance. That doesn't make him a savant but that's a point in the positive column.

Telling graphic from the broadcast:
In games tied last year going into the 3rd period, Florida tied for the lead league in eventual wins with 14.
The Blackhawks came in last place with only 3 wins.
I can't even remember those wins. They always play teams close in the first 2 periods but manage to lose in regulation or overtime.
I guess it's a product of youth.

Blashill is a major upgrade over the previous coaches. title contention is a ways off. in the interim, the ride should be very enjoyable (not so much this season though, but that doesn't mean it won't be interesting)

It's what bad teams do.

I thought Kaiser looked great. Rinzel, Kaiser, Levshenov and Vlasic are a blue line future to be excited about. Hopefully Korchinski can make some strides.

Kaiser is a near-perfect partner for Lev. looking for a bounce back game for him tonight. I'd rather have him learning at the big boy level than in the A. we can live with the mental miscues as long as he's learning. not many 20 year olds in the league, much less 2nd pair

between Korch, EDM, Allan and Crevier the Hawks are pretty much set with the 3rd pairing too, going forward

2 for 2 in losing tied 3rd period games. At least we got a point.

There were some bad calls in the 3rd period. We should have had another PP or two.

I can already see some growth. The future is looking better.

200%

save for Korpisalo's unreal paddle save on Nazar in OT, that's a road win. I think it's safe to say that the team is better than last year by a pretty fair margin, it's much more interesting to see the young guys develop and that Blashill is a bona fide NHL level coach

Only shame is that they play in what a friend of mine likes to call the division of death.

I'm not expecting anything this season - just growth from their young players. Things can change pretty quickly in the NHL. It's hard to sustain success, so they should have a chance in future years.

that was fun. but not as much fun as today's Blues' practice is going to be

nice to see growth from the kids and overall good team play. our D is ahead of schedule. when the next waves arrive, the real fun starts

If the season ended today, the Hawks would be in the playoffs. Granted, they have played more games than most teams, but it's still nice to see.
