Chicago Cubs 2016 Season

Cubs also signed Koji Uehara to a one year deal yesterday.

And for cheap, too.

Fangraphs currently has the Cubs tied with the Yankees for best bullpen in their WAR projections. That's subject, of course, to Jansen's signing. If he goes back to the Dodgers, I'd expect them to vault up to #1.

Still, if everyone is relatively healthy - far from guaranteed with Davis, Uehara, and Rondon - the Cubs could have a top 3 in the majors bullpen. And I still expect them to sign a left hander. Boone Logan would be my choice.

Cubs now have rostered 3 of the last 4 pitchers to record the last out of a World Series: Montgomery, Davis, & Uehara.

The 4th was Madison Bumgarner. I'm pretty sure the Cubs would be ecstatic if they could get their hands on him :D

Joe Maddon spoke to reporters on Tuesday and said that he had made up a lineup as he prepares for the upcoming 2017 season.

His batting order for a right-handed pitcher was the following:

LF Kyle Schwarber
3B Kris Bryant
1B Anthony Rizzo
2B Ben Zobrist
SS Addison Russell
CF/RF Jason Heyward
C Willson Contreras
RF/CF John Jay or Albert Almora Jr.
Pitcher

Maddon did say that he would think about batting the pitcher in the 8th spot to give more RBI opportunities for Schwarber at the lead-off position.

I added the positions. no word from Maddon on CF/RF .

The other more traditional lead off man is Zobrist or Jay , and have Schwarbs bat 3rd or 4th.

The Cubs visit to the White House was filled with some pretty funny moments from both President Obama and Theo. Theo offered Obama a "midnight pardon" for his White Sox fandom.
