Not to over-read the tea leaves, but it's really sounding like Schwarber has a strong chance to be on the World Series roster.

For the sake of discussion, if they decide to add him, who do you feel he would replace? Zastryzny? Coghlan?

Yeah, I'd say one of those two most likely.

Coghlan yes

Zastryzny no

Coghlan will make the WS roster. Schwarber for Zastryzny is most probable IMO.

I think it's gonna be Schwarber for Montero. And Cahill or Joe Smith for Zas.

No chance. Montero is catching Arrieta in game 2 @ Cleveland. Schwarber is not coming back to catch. DH only in AL parks and pinch hit at Wrigley.

Still can't believe it happened yesterday...if I can't get tickets for a game at Wrigley I just want to be there if the clinch.

I agree. Zastryzny was only there because the Dodgers were so putrid against left-handed pitching. Even if Schwarber doesn't happen, there's a pretty good chance LaStella gets switched back in for Zastryzny anyway.

(I'm still somewhat amazed/amused that the Didger's only good right-handed hitter - Turner - had reverse splits.)

Interesting fact about the Indians and their future... Every single inning pitched for them this post season was pitched by a player signed for next season. The injured starters, Carrasco and Salazar (the latter of whom may be available for the Series) are also signed for next year.

They might be good for a while. In contrast, the Cubs and Blue Jays are losing a couple relievers each. While the Dodgers are losing every one of their effective pitchers not named Kershaw - Hill, Blanton, and Jansen.

With Turner, Utley, and Reddick also all free agents and Puig quite likely gotten rid of, that's going to be a very different looking team next year.

Schwarber playing DH for Mesa Solar Sox in AFL this afternoon and then flying to Cleveland tonight. It is happening!!!!

Imagine the story if Schwarbs plays and gets some really meaningful hits/homer(s). WOW

Yeah it would be a big deal, like Kirk Gibson in the '88 Series big.

Schwarber with a couple of ground outs so far today.

ok, not exactly a double. But he did slide. He wasn't tearing it up on the basepaths. :) Will be interesting to see what happens next.

Apparently he hit a ball 110 mph off the bat today. The potential impact of Schwarber's bat, even with as much rust as it may carry is likely worth more than carrying a reliever like Zastryzny.

Per Morosi: Kyle Schwarber en route to Cleveland now on a private jet. He's expected to DH for the #Cubs in Game 1. @MLB @MLBNetwork

I'm truly curious as to what you all think because I'm wondering if the Cubs are bringing Schwarber back too soon. I'm sure there is a bit of a trial period where he may whiff on a lot of balls or hit a lot of grounders just as he gets acclimated to game speed again.

Is it worth it to have that guy at bat over maybe Contreras who has seen plenty of pitchers and at-bats this year and this post season? If there is a trial period, it may take KS the entire World Series to get up to game speed.

What are y'alls opinions on it?

Miller and Merritt are the only left handed pitchers the Indians have. They are stacked with right-handers and left handed bats are going to be at a premium. (Rizzo must be absolutely salivating after all the lefties the Dodgers threw at him!)

So, high leverage at bat against, let's say, Cody Allen. Do you want Chris Coghlan or do you want rusty Kyle Schwarber? I'd be willing to gamble on Schwarber.

I think that is the key right there. It's going to be a gamble. Schwarber can get us a run with one swing of the bat and one pitch left up over the plate. But the gamble truly is will he actually shake off the rust in time.

If the tweets/rumors are true, it looks like the Cubs think they are on a hot streak and are going all in. Let's hope it pays off!

My source is saying Schwarber will bat #2, but I don't see how they could do that.

#6 in between Baez and Russell sounds perfect to me.

Yeah, I'd agree with that. 110 mph off the bat is impressive.
