Well good thing it didn't rain during last night's game either.
Or any of the previous 80-whatever games.

These last few weeks I've been a bit distracted with a puppy taking over my home, but it looks like the Cubs drafted LHP Jordan Wicks out of Kansas State last night. Reported to be the best LHP and has an "elite"' changeup (https://www.mlb.com/news/jordan-wicks-is-cubs-first-round-pick-in-2021-mlb-draft).
I can hear the back up horns from the dump truck alreadyPedersen traded to Atlanta.
Was hoping the Cubs would eat good chunks of salary on these trades to increase the value in return. Should have known better. This one feels like a salary dump. Not that you were going to get much for Joc Perderson anyways.
Sadly, I just don't see how those two help you win anything going forward.Cubs Will Try To Extend Rizzo, Baez Before Talking Trade
The Cubs will make one final effort to extend Javier Baez and Anthony Rizzo before discussing them in trades. Read more at MLB Trade Rumors.www.mlbtraderumors.com
Cubs trying to extend Javy and Rizzo. Both of them scare the crap out of me for different reasons - Rizzo age/health, Javy consistency. I’m sure there’s a number that makes sense for both parties.
This is why I think it needs to blown up completely. I can see signing a couple free agents and making a few changes to the offense and feeling good about it. The starting pitching is nowhere near what you need to win in the playoffs. If I’m Hoyer I’m listening to offers for Hendricks. Cubs need a bunch of live young arms.Kyle Hendricks is tied for 2nd in the MLB with 14 Quality Starts in his 19 starts.
The rest of the Cubs have a total of 14 Quality Starts in their 72 starts.
For what it’s worth, Yu Darvish has 10 QSs in his 18 starts.
God, what a terrible trade that was. I know it's easy to critique it now but I truly never liked the trade.yea, we knew what direction Ricketts/Hoyer wanted to go starting this season when that Darvish trade was made.
we will have a couple lean years before we get good again. look at the Sox, they have 4-5 guys who can give you a real good chance at a W just about every night
looks like the decision to let Quintana walk away was correct.
0-3, 6.97 era and now comes out of the bullpen
Hendricks is signed to a very reasonable contract for another 2 1/2 years with a very reasonable club option for an additional year after that. This is why I think it needs to blown up completely. maybe he can be traded to the White Sox for Eloy Jiminez and Dylan Cease…Hendricks is signed to a very reasonable contract for another 2 1/2 years with a very reasonable club option for an additional year after that.
3 1/2 years of one of the most reliable starting pitchers in baseball, with an established big game playoff pedigree, no injury history, the type of arm/stuff that doesn’t deteriorate with age…
Yeah Hoyer can listen, but unless the other team is offering 2 MLB ready starters minimum, I don’t see Hoyer taking a trade. There’s no reason why Hendricks can’t be a big piece of the next Cubs playoff team.
We can blame Theo. He allowed this train wreck to happen with Q trade, signing Darvish for way too much money. Theo did not care since he was not here for the long run and let this mess grow.God, what a terrible trade that was. I know it's easy to critique it now but I truly never liked the trade.
No need for a DH and a 5th starter.maybe he can be traded to the White Sox for Eloy Jiminez and Dylan Cease…
I was actually kidding.No need for a DH and a 5th starter.
Why would I think otherwise.I was actually kidding.
Yeah, the Cubs and my fantasy team too.I don't think it can be understated how much responsibility Kris Bryant has for the Cubs falling out of contention this year. He's been flat out awful for the last 5 weeks.
In his last 30 games, Bryant is .167/.248/.265 with 32 Ks to only 9 walks and 4 extra base hits.
You probably wouldn't. I assumed that since one of the big reasons Quintana was traded for was his affordable contract, same as was described above for Hendricks, that some might find it funny that I suggested that trade. Obviously didn't work. I apologize. Why would I think otherwise.
