Chicago Cubs 2024

All kidding aside, there’s something about going directly from the ultimate win or go home sporting event of the NCAA basketball tournament to the 162-game grind of MLB baseball that makes it completely impossible for me - and I imagine a lot of fans - to have any perspective on the small sample sizes of the early part of the year.
IMHO a 162 game schedule is ridiculous. The team in the playoffs sometimes bears only a slight resemblance to the team that started the season.
My solution:
1) Play only on Sunday
2) Have an offensive team and a defensive team
3) Each round of the playoffs is only one game
4) Change from World Series to Super Series

What do you think?

I think I'm praying this is an April Fool's Day joke

Rockies are mid-way through their 6th game of the season and Kris Bryant is 0-15 on the season.

Just brutal what’s happened to him.
after 2016 , we all thought he was MLB HOF for sure
now? he might not make the Cubs Hall of Fame . his injuries really have taken a toll

Only if each home run is worth 6 runs, and you get to try a bunt for a 7th.

Christopher Morel should not be playing third base. Period. 4 errors in 4 games, plus two ole's on grounders that were called hits.

LF or DH only, please.
Who is sitting then?
He's hitting .375.
Suzuki, .333,
Happ .391
Tauchman is getting on base at a nearly .500 clip...

I guess we're benching Bellinger?

We don't have anyone who is going to be good at 3rd. Might as well play the guy who is slugging .700.

He's going have to continue hitting to justify.
.842 fielding percentage in Spring and .833 so far this season.
I hope he gets better or it will eventually hurt us.

You do realize that they were playing night games in rain and ~20 degree wind chill, right?. That may have some impact. The idiot that scheduled back-to-back night games in Chicago the first week of April should be shot.

Understood but a big problem he has is his footwork on his throws and I don't believe the weather has anything to do with that. And he made a couple errors in Texas.
I agree with the absurdity of the scheduling.

There is a lot to like about this team so far. You can’t win a pennant in April, but you can sure lose one.
It‘s so early, but while we have gotten fat on a few games with a punchless Rockies team, we’ve looked the WS champs and the best team money can buy, in the eye, and not blinked.
Its never too early to gain some confidence.

winning 10-9 is a lot better than losing 2-1, but I am concerned about our pitching over the next few months before some teams are ready to deal

Early returns aren’t great, but the conditions (wet and cold) haven’t helped. It’s gotta be tough to get a good feel for the ball right now.
