One of the worst aspects of Turner hitting 3rd is that Tucker won't get a single pitch to hit if it continues. Tucker got himself out on a long at bat last night and not a single pitch was in the strike zone. You'll see more of that with pitchers knowing the guy on deck should be playing beer league softball.

I obviously never played anywhere close to 162 games /year, More like 20 or 25. That being said, after puberty, in a game I never dropped a fly ball fair or foul. Look it into your glove.
Most encouraging thing about tonight might be Merryweather looking like the guy from 2 seasons ago.

We were in first last April too. Conventional wisdom says having an unreliable bullpen will eventually catch up with us, as it has the last 2 years. This team hasn’t been relevant since 2017, I don’t think it’s wrong to be pessimistic.
It's also not wrong to be optimistic.
Yeah, but at point the Cubs had not played (arguably) the two best teams in MLB (or at least two top 5 teams) 10 out of 20 games. This team is much, MUCH better than last year, and considering how much worse the NL Central is, they will be running away with the division by July. It's OK to be optimistic when such optimism is justified
Pitching has been less than stellar, but the offense is top 5 by any measure. (#1 in Runs per game) It's not like we've been feasting on bad pitching teams.
Being pessimistic isn't wrong, but it's a lot less fun.

I feel like there are two separate things
1. The 2025 Cubs, about whom there is increasing reason for optimism
2. The question of if the Ricketts family plans to rob Cubs fans blind for the next several decades
There is some intermingling of the two on the question of whether this team has enough pitching and how it might get more, but the big elephant in the room on that subject is the question of whether Kyle Tucker will be in Chicago for the long term.
That's the 500-million-dollar question, and a big reason why I'm trying to enjoy this season...
A mediocre team can win it all with a few elite starters and 1 or 2 elite relievers. I think my pessimism is based in the fact that this team is especially poorly constructed for a playoff run, even if they manage to make it.

In pessimistic cubs news, Seiya manages to kill almost every rally that gets to him. I'm sure he's a great guy, but he's held this team back so much with his inability to hit in big moments and even catch pop ups in big moments.
Just some notes here: Legitimate franchises don't roster Little, legitimate franchises don't put Little into a 3-2 game, legitimate franchises don't let him face a top 5 hitter in baseball with the bases loaded after walking 3 hitters in the inning already. That doesn't happen to legitimate franchises. It happens to the Pirates, the A's, and the Cubs. The odds might favor the Cubs to win this division, but smart money would be on the Brewers. This team was constructed by a low IQ moron who got to his job by riding Theo's coattails.
I'm not big picture pessimistic but right now Swanson looks lost at the plate.

Main reason I can't get optimistic about this team. Seiya is a clutchless wonder and there are no other hitters who can hit in the middle of the order. This hot streak offensively can't continue I feel like for the team in general.
