3-3 season record. Padres get the nod with a better intradivisional record thanks to this weekend in Cincinnati.

From now on, everyone must drink the champagne. Don't absorb it through your skin. It's clearly bad luck.

Lets just hope we are getting the slump out of the way so we can get hot when it matters again.

It's just beyond belief to me that 3 players on the same team having All Star/ MVP type years, all at the same time fall apart, having some of the worst second halves in baseball. (PCA's hitting stats actually ARE the worst in MLB in the 2nd half.)
This is 95% of the difference between the Cubs' great first half and their .500 2nd half.

Well, Milwaukee failed in game 1 of the SD series. Hopefully the Padres win in g a spot in the playoffs will relax them over the next two games and the Brewers can help us out. This is a huge game for Horton tonight. He needs to shut the Mets down and stop this 4 game losing streak. That’s what aces do.

The last time I posted that we were going to end up in San Diego for the WC, the Cubs started winning and Padres started losing so it looks like it's again time to declare:

It's looking more and more like we're going to end up in San Diego for the Wildcard round ;)

It would help if we could hit

MLB just announced Automated umps will be allowed for 2026 for ball/strike challenges
I've been to a fair amount of AAA games in Saint Paul this year and the challenge system is efficient.

My favorite moment is when a call is overturned and the aggrieved party (batter or pitcher) gets justice in real time to the umpire, then has to continue the at bat. :)

How often are pitches reviewed? Is it something like throwing the red challenge flag in the NFL?

Basically, yes, but only the pitcher, catcher, or batter can make the request. No help from the bench is allowed. If you are right, you keep the challenge, if you are wrong, you lose it. If the game goes to extras, you get one more if you have used them all.

Personally, I can't wait to see CB Bucknor get corrected a dozen times in a single game. It's going to happen. It's just a shame Angel Hernandez didn't stick around long enough to see it.

Maybe give Kittredge a few more outs after that performance in the top of the 7th......

They are doing everything they can to give away home field advantage…

We might be witnessing a choke of epic proportions.
My apologies to @Jimbo. There. I said it.
Longest losing streak all year was 3 games. Last week of the season and were at 5 and counting.
And Brewers sticking it to us also. Padres winning 6-0.
Magic Number has been 4 for a month and a half now.
Being a Chicago and Illini sports fan isn't easy.
