The story of Ernie Banks MVP years.reminds me of the year Andre Dawson won the MVP & the Cubs finished last or next to last
Dawson wanted to play in Wrigley so badly in 1985 he handed Dallas Green a one year contract with nothing written in the dollar amount line & said “ fill in whatever amount you feel is fair & we’ll see what happens .The story of Ernie Banks MVP years.
Didn't he play for $500,000 that year if I remember right?Dawson wanted to play in Wrigley so badly in 1985 he handed Dallas Green a one year contract with nothing written in the dollar amount line & said “ fill in whatever amount you feel is fair & we’ll see what happens .
iirc, he basically hit +35 homers every year , won an MVP & made some decent money at the time
sounds about rightDidn't he play for $500,000 that year if I remember right?
I'm with you fully.Yeah, the bullpen fell apart. That has been unfortunate. But this team has been fun to watch and stranger things have happened.
all we need is luckI'm with you fully.
This team is a known entity. A league MVP, potent offense, elite defense, starting pitching that *can* win games, and a bullpen that will likely give a few pacemakers their money's worth come October.
I say let it ride!
Rather than going for the cycle PCA is going for the major league lead in HRs. 44 tied with Schwarber and lock down MVP.Can the bullpen hold a 6 run lead? Will PCA get a single and double for another cycle?
No lead is safe.Watching the Cubs bullpen:

They have to be up by like six in the seventh inning it feels like. Even last night kind of sucked. I think the way he is pitching Imanaga has to be on the wild card roster. Maybe forget about some of these bullpen guys. Maybe in one game you can have the starter go five, Imanaga and Peterson combine for three, and Zeferjahn or Palencia close out. IDKNo lead is safe.
Best individual season for a Cubsounds about right
it was no more than that
market rate was twice that
Andre had about a 34” waist & a 46” chest
geez, could he swing a fast bat
Sometimes I wonder about Seiya’s approach at the plate. Seems like he takes a lot of called strike threes.I need to hear somebody explain that last play.
How many men did PCA leave on base tonight?
Seiya is just so passive until he swings at a ball out of the zone.
Not a good start from Holmes. Assad didn't help.
Other than that we did OK.
I agree. at least swing if its close, protect the plate with 2 strikes. a lot of times it seems like he takes called strikes right down the middle tooSometimes I wonder about Seiya’s approach at the plate. Seems like he takes a lot of called strike threes.
PCA left a lot of runners on base tonightI need to hear somebody explain that last play.
