Suzuki is so bad in high leverage situations. Cubs load the bases with no outs in the eighth and get only one run. Blue Jays closer that came in only threw a couple strikes.
Had a 5-0 going into the 7th. Ooof.

I have to disagree with you here. As bad as the hitting with RISP was, they still scored 6 runs. Up 5-0 in the 7th, you have to win that game 100 times out of 100.

8 Earned Runs
Can't take the approach that if they don't score 10 runs, it's on the offense. Injuries to the staff has caught up and the results are what they are.
But look at the Jay's efficiency. Almost everyone who got on base scored. Unheard of with our team.

After hitting three homers tonight, Kyle Schwarber has 28 homers and 49 RBI’s.
49 RBIs and 28 of them are himself. Only driven in 21 other guys.

Honestly, there's not one guy in the pen that I trust outside of Palencia and he can't stay healthy.
The only hope the Cubs have is for Boyd to come back strong, where to can put Assad or Rea in the pen and maybe Steele, where you could put the other in the pen.
I agree with you on Thielbar. He was lights out, now he's an accident waiting to happen. Maton has been a flat out disappointment. Pretty sure Counsell was leaning on those two to set up Palencia in high leverage situations late in games.
Nothing has gone right, outside of Brown, with that staff. I guess we can say Assad has given them a nice run lately.

At the beginning of the game yesterday, it was mentioned that Rea has the most innings pitched by a Cub since the beginning of last season at 233.1. That’s a credit to Rea, but that can’t be what was planned. If it was, it was a crappy plan.
Well, Hunter Harvey hasn't pitched bad. Then again, Hunter Harvey hasn't pitched.

Having back-to-back games rained out in different cities is something you don’t see often.
It can only be a good thing for the Cubs at this point. Change something. Shake it up. Maybe it will rain again tomorrow.

The best thing that could happen for the Cubs is a full season lockout next year. They need to circle the wagons and really take a hard look at what they have and who can be counted on.
I hate to repeat myself (who am I kidding), but the Bregman contract is going to go down as one of the WORST signings in Cubs' history. It's scary to think that if he's playing this bad now, how bad he will play the "next" season, which will not be most likely until 2028, when he'll be 34!!
