Chicago Cubs 2026

not sure why he wanted to take the open base . I guess he showed me why , but I want him swinging 99 out of 100 times
Plate discipline and getting on base no matter what is the primary reason he is so much better this year. Chasing fewer balls forces pitchers to throw better pitches, also a big reason for his improvement.

Happ needs a couple days off. 4 KO's tonight. Batting .168 for the last 30 games and hitless for the last 7 games with 9 KO's in 19 at bats.
A couple of games off is being kind. He should get in the game for late game defense only. He has absolutely zero confidence. What I really don't understand is if Counsell is bent on him getting AB's.....why hit him anywhere, but 9th? He's a rally killer. That said, on the Cubs, the 9th hole is a big spot with PCA up next in the order. Just not seeing the thought process there.

Happ with a G.S.* tonight.
How can CC keep penciling him into the 4-5-6 slot ????

(* That's Golden Sombrero, not Grand Slam.)

Gotta love sports fans. Cubs win. One of the key acquisitions pitches like we hoped he would. Key rookie hits a home run and gets his average up to .300. Two key guys in the middle of the order who have underperformed for the season go 3 for 7. Webb pitches a perfect ninth for the save. Even the Brewers lose. And all the posts are about negative occurrences.

Good win. Go Cubs.

What's wrong with those posters? Glad we aren't like them!
