2018 is in the rearview mirror. Looking Ahead to 2019 now. Curious on what you think/want to happen this off season

I saw Rosenthall report the Sox as a sleeper for Machado and willing to spend this offseason. I will believe it when it happens, but it got me playing the What could the lineup be game....so here me rosterbating over what it could look like by the All star break in 19...
1. Madrigal 2B
2. Moncada 3B
3. Machado SS
4. Abreu 1B
5. Eloy RF
6. Avi LF
7. Palka/Davidson DH
8. Wellington C
9. Anderson CF

Who you got as our 5 man rotation?

I left that off for a reason....

Rodon, Lopez, and Giolito will all be apart of the rotation, just not sure where they fall (if they make a splash 3, 4, and 5 in the rotation). My guess is Cease follows the Kopech timeline, maybe up sooner. Just hope he doesn't follow the health track. If we are in fantasy land like my Machado post, maybe the go after Corbin?

A picture of Bryce Harper's name with the Sox logo on the scrolling marquee was at the United Center was leaked and Jordan was wearing a Sox jersey. The tweet is deleted but not too hard to find on the internet. I guess they were filming a promo video for their pitch to him. So I guess we're making an offer to Harper.

Harper and Machado to the Sox was discussed on MLB Tonight the other day for about 4 minutes. Now that'd be nuts.

A team with as much potential to sell tickets that struggles to do so almost has to try to get Harper.

I don't know what to think right now. Happy if they get one of them, don't need to change course on the rebuild either. I just don't want to trade a bunch of prospects to get someone. Not yet anyway.

Is it going to happen? We are not Ron Paul gif yet, but I like our chances. The small lineup changes this would cause and we start to be a really competitive lineup.

Here are how I think the rest shakes out if we get him...
I would like to see what Anderson could do in center field with Manny at short.
Moncada to 3rd in prep for Madrigal at 2nd. Let Yolmer play 2nd until then.
Eloy in right a few weeks in.

Where does Robert play if you have Anderson in CF? I'm thinking that some infielder gets traded.

I still think Robert is 2 years away. Could also move him to RF and Eloy to LF. Eloy is not much of a defender. And a trade is possible too. Anderson would probably be the guy to trade. His contract makes him a good deal.

Yea, I was thinking Anderson also. I agree on Robert but adding Machado might move up timetables on some guys in the minors in order to take advantage of the window when he's there.

I mean honestly what are they waiting for to spend money on? If not Machado and Harper than who? Hahn said they couldn't match the $300 million the Padres offered Machado. Why? Jerry sucks.

I am so torn on this. Didnt want then giving out a 10 year deal sounded like a decent offer.

What. a. letdown!

Really hope Hahn has a solid Plan B. Fearing this debacle sets us back another season. Ugh.

If there is a plan B, it won't come this spring. We'll continue surrounding the core with replacement level players, just like how we wasted the 2015 collection of core talent.

I am a Cubs fan but I do root for the Sox too. This may set them back a bit but they are going to be really good in a few years. Realistically they weren’t going to be ready to contend next year anyways. Machado strikes me as someone that could become a real headache with all that guaranteed money.

I really don’t understand the white sox public display of anguish over this though. Comes off as desperate and like you said, we have no plan B. It was this or bust. If the White Sox are ready to spend this kind of money, they will find some really good players to take it. Don’t worry.

Ready to spend that kind of money for an:
A. generational talent at a
B. position we've historically ran minor leaguers out to during
C. the prime of their career at the
D. moment the division is up for grabs.

Manny was must have. I was never convinced we'd actually get him, but then again I'm not actually convinced the FO knows what they're doing either. I'm also not convinced we're going to be really good in a few years. Not without a 6ish WAR centerpiece like Machado/Harper/Arenado etc.

Eloy is going to be that centerpiece.
