I know, right? It was a great White Sox come-from-behind victory to watch, only the second of the season. Go, Go, White Sox!
I did. Though I just created the bingo card about two weeks ago.
Some Sox fans are saying the club should consider making a big trade to shore up the playoff run for this season.
But that would require sacrificing some of the Sox great young talent. This is not a good idea unless there is some kind of miracle deal to be made.
The Sox are good and exciting but they are not going to win the World Series this year. Not enough in place yet to do that. So they should not give up any young talent just to make a move. Let the talent grow from within on the South Side. We Sox fans can wait a little longer for the big prize.
I disagree to some extent. Definitely shouldn’t go all in and trade away a bunch of top prospects, but you can improve your team without selling off all your top talent. So certainly no to guys like Skubal and Mason Miller, but yes on trying to improve your team. I could see trading a guy like Bergolla (#6 prospect) with some other pieces. He looks to be a good player, but Sox have a glut of middle infielders in the system. Sometimes prospects help your team by being called up and other times by being traded.

Another White Sox win, 6-1 over Tampa Bay, a Cleveland loss 4-1 to Arizona, and Minnesota beat Seattle 5-3, so the Sox are in first by 3 games. Guardians and Twins are now tied for 2nd, with the White Sox having two more wins and four less losses than both of them. Let’s go, White Sox!
Minnesota has picked up two pitchers — seem like overpays, especially Kremer— and Clev traded for bullpen guy this morning. Will be interesting to see how WSox play it Hopefully, somewhat conservative and smart.

I thought we had a chance. If we could keep to our play second half of last year, maybe improve a bit, and in a gritty division it wasn’t impossible.

Don’t love the trade. Bit of an over pay, but overall I don’t have issue with players they’re losing. Smith is a nice bat and he’s had a good season, rising up to AA. But he was only Sox #15 prospect. My problem is with who they are getting back. He just hasn’t been very good this year. In 7 of his 20 appearances (not sure if all starts) he has given up 4 or more earned runs. Only 4 of his 17 starts have qualified as quality. But maybe Sox can figure out the issue. This year is only his second that he’s had an ERA over 4.00 and the first time was in his second season, so he’s not far removed from being a solid starter. Time to work some some magic Zach.
Is Castillo any good? Will he be better for our Sox than the Mariners?

Remains to be seen if Castillo can turn things around. As I said in previous post, don’t love the pick up. But he is an experienced starter with playoff experience last year. He pitched reasonably well in those playoffs too. The contract isn’t a good one, but as long as they don’t allow him to get to 180 innings next year, it is just one more year. If he can get back to closer to what he was, it wouldn’t be an atrocious contract. And if Domínguez exercised his player option for 2028, the total amount owed after this year for each is about the same, but castillo’s is over one year not two.
Trading Boston Smith has no impact on the Sox catching issues. He is a first year pro (drafted in 6th round I think) who is on his third level this year. Extremely unlikely he would have seen any time with Sox. Going forward beyond this year, they have Teel plus two other catchers on their top 30 prospect list. Plus, I believe there are questions about whether he’ll remain at catcher. And the fun fact for the day. Sox got Smith for Curtis Mead prior to season starting.
