Sox get a catcher — Joey Bart — from Atlanta. Not going to dazzle, but has some pop and believe he is a good receiver.

Cleveland has had a nice day adding a pitcher and two bats. Doesn’t seem like they are going to roll over. But I like what the Sox did. Filled some holes and didn’t touch their top prospects. I believe the highest ranked to head out was #8. Never know how the new guys will do, but I think they improved the team and Getz handled deadline very well.

Lots of trading activity went on today. Lots of ball clubs shuffling the deck to see if they can end up with better cards and a better hand. Sometimes it works. Sometimes not. But no club wants to look like they’re just standing still.

Trading top prospects away is always a gamble. As it turns out... many top prospects you trade away or bring in never do pan out up to their hype (can you say... Moncada, Jimenez?... and there are plenty of other examples in history). And every so often a ball club trades away a real megastar and gets burned bad. That has also happened to the Pale Hose.

But that’s what makes all this movement interesting. This is the day when all baseball fans really pay attention to the GM of their favorite club to see how sharp he may be and what he’s got when the bets gets placed on the table.

Now we all have the rest of the season (or more) to see just how good our GM brotherhood around the league is. Some of these GM will get job security. And others will end up with a different address in a couple months.

Let’s hope the new players the Sox now have will fit in well with the great young core that has already shown The Boys Can Play.

Sox start a series at Fenway today - Red Sox have been hot!
Bring a bucket of ice water and cool them the heck down!

Real or not? The Guardians passed the White Sox as the team to beat in the AL Central​

Doolittle: Not real. Wait, what? Is that a thing people are saying? I thought Cleveland did fine at the deadline. But the White Sox had emerged as the favorite to win the division before the sprees of the last few days, then went out and had a better deadline than the Guardians.

Either team can win, but for me, Chicago only increased its advantage. You can question whether or not the White Sox gave up too much future value for this year's stretch run, but not that they did well to bolster those short-term objectives -- and better than the Guardians.

Rogers: Not real. It's not that they can't -- they absolutely can -- but now I just view it as an even race. And on top of it, the White Sox have a three-game head start. But the Guardians offense should look better with the additions of Jo Adell and Nathaniel Lowe. They average a full run less than the White Sox. If that gap closes they have a shot at the division. Cleveland has the experience but there's little more than that to believe they're the team to beat. It should be a great race to the finish.

Yeah, this whole section of the article was weird. I’ve not heard anyone saying that.

I do think it’s a tight race but I like our chances. Wish we would have done a bit more before the deadline but I can appreciate we actually have some great team chemistry.

What the Red Sox did this season to turn things around is downright miraculous. They were once quite dead... and now they are serious contenders.

What this means is that this Season is destined to be a good one for Sox – of ALL Colors.

I hope we're done with the Red Sox after this series. If we can win Thursday, it'll give us a split for the road trip. Cleveland comes to town Friday.

I saw a graphic after the game yesterday that Boston has now won 9 series in a row, I think it was the second longest streak in their history, with the longest being in the early 1900's. Kudo's to them, bad timing on our schedule.

Going Tuesday wondering if Castillo's turn again, 4 days off. Going to be a large crowd.
Hoping to salvage tonight and get rolling for this weekends battle for 1st. GoGo Sox!!!

The Red Sox are playing unreal... out of this World for the past few weeks. Freaky good. Lightning in a bottle that every team would dream to have a stretch like theirs. For the Red Sox the question becomes how long can they keep this freaky run going – and will they be able to play well throughout the playoffs or will things revert back more to the way their season looked before they got on this hot streak.

For the White Sox its all about whether they can get enough out of the pitching staff as well as the rest of the guys playing well enough to get a decent slot in the Playoffs. I don’t think the White Sox will be able to separate themselves from the pack in the AL Central because the top three or four are all playing at about the same level. Probably a real tight race all the way to the end.

In any case, this is going to make for the most exciting run-up to the Playoffs maybe ever. Things will be rocking on both sides of Chi-town for the next three months.
