Aw, man. Sort of been enjoying the Louisville meltdown and I feel Muss would turn them around very quickly

Think Louisville is Beard's job if he wants it ... Muss very interested in getting back towards the West Coast ...

There are some rumors that Few could be done at Gonzaga after the year ... Does that mean they offer Tommy an absurd contract to come back ? I think it could very well happen and the AZ job could open ... Fully expect Washington, ASU and Stanford to open ... And I have heard Altman might be done at Oregon as well ... Does not have much interest in the Big Ten merge and is under achieving there already ...

Does Gonzaga have the money to outbid Arizona? Or would Lloyd's interest in returning to Spokane make the money less of an issue?

Hate to see Howard leave Michigan or Holtmann leave Ohio State
Love beating those guys twice a year.
Both programs have great potential.

Either school would see major improvement under Beard or Musselman

Musselman - two elite 8's plus NBA HC experience

Dana Altman has had a few tough years here at Oregon. It's like he's been snake bit with player injuries for about 3 years now. He's a very good coach, I think the one and done changes to college basketball don't play to his strengths. Give him a squad and let him develop that talent and he'll compete in the sweet sixteen every year. He's very loyal to his coaches and staff.

Unfortunately, I don’t think they’ll get rid of Tinkle after this year. Would love if they moved on but think he’s owed too much money. As a Beaver fan hopefully I’m wrong, but have a feeling after next year is more likely. 🥲
So what's your connection with the beavs? I grew up in beaver country, all my family are beavs, my high school graduation was in Gill. Obviously, I was the smart one ;)

I went to Illinois State freshman year, and it and Oregon Stare were part of a domestic exchange program. Spent soph year in Corvallis and then transferred to U of I upon returning to Land of Lincoln. Beavers only lost 2 games in bball under Ralph Miller when I was out there, so been a fan since. Unfortunately those 2 games were final 2 of season.

I probably don’t hate Ducks as much as most Beaver fans since only spent a year in OR. Though the hatred continues to grow, but mainly for having to watch bball games played on that hideous floor. My eyes can’t take watching a whole game.

The next time we need an assistant…

I’m just curious what kind of street cred. this cat, PAUL LUSK has in the coaching ranks. What does Brad think of him? Is he in his orbit at all. Is he poachable?

He was Shrew’s replacement under Painter at P-yew…Painter seems to be kinda good at picking them out of the choir…so to speak…

He was an assistant at Creighton too…So…pretty decent pedigree…has some head coaching experience at Missouri State I 🤔 think? I’m not sure he set the world on fire there…but so what.

He’s no spring chicken… but not ancient and he’s an Illinois-boy. State Champs 1-A Trenton-Wesclin. (Small town Stud.) ‘89-90…I believe.

LOL, Ralph was a excellent coach. The floor in the MATT arena is a tribute to the University of Oregon 1939 "Tall Firs" that won the first NCAA national title in basketball. I agree it isn't the easiest floor to look at, but as a Duck it sort of grows on you, not so much for opponents.

That would have been 80-81 with Steve Johnson, Radford, Blume and Sitton, very good team. Johnson was a beast in the middle. Ducks weren't very good in those days.

Is the P2 appeal not as big in basketball? I get that there are more “basketball schools” spread outside the big 10 and sec, but over time does the absurd money not make Ole Miss and Arkansas better spots than Louisville, Arizona or Gonzaga?

I knew it was to honor past team. It’s not just the design but the colors that really get me.

Correct on the team/year. Beavs would have played Illini in next game if they hadn’t lost on the Rolando Blackmon late shot. Was a great team and fun to watch from all-around perspective.

Johnson was indeed a beast. I remember Al Maguire describing Johnson as having a “tail end” as wide as an axe handle in a game that year. Really didn’t register with me until I saw Johnson in a dining hall later. Probably first time I had seen a college player from a few feet away. I was 6-2 and probably 210 lbs at the time and he was at least twice as wide — probably closer to thrice — as me.

As to Ralph Miller, great coach and a throw back for sure. I really wasn’t familiar with him until I was out there. After a few games seeing him, I’d tell people he reminded me of the bball coach at my high school Don Laketa. Both tall, no nonsense, stern disciplinarians who would get after players. One day I was reading Ralph’s long bio in the media guide and there was the name Don Laketa. Turns out Miller had coached him at Wichita State.

I’d guess large portion of NIL at those schools goes to football — not that they don’t have plenty for basketball too. Plus easier to win title in bball — or at least get in position to do so — than football for non-P2 schools. Look at teams in F4 this past year compared to those in football playoffs this year.

Off topic, but my dad went to Oregon and was in school that year. He used to tell me stories about Laddie Gale and Howard Hobson

Stevens has been out of the college game for an eternity. Not sure he is that great of a hire at this point tbh.
Plus, I don’t see any reason whatsoever why he’d move from a NBA president/GM role to a college head coach/recruiting role. Stevens basically has the same position as Pat Riley does with the Heat. No way Stevens takes that kind of move. It would have to be an order of magnitude greater in terms of overall stress levels.

I think Louisville is a tier 2 school, could have been a blue blood if Pitino could have kept in his pants, or at least not get caught. I'm willing to bet they throw money around, because they're a bit crazy and really want to get back to Kentucky's level and better. I'd take that job in a heart beat. Plus Northern Kentucky is way nice than one would expect.
