But if Antigua has to be on the Kentucky Basketball coaching staff as of June 30, 2024 to get his $400,000 retention bonus, how is it going to work? Obviously, Pope will not want him around Lexington while Cal is trying to poach as many of his #1 recruiting class 5 Star players as he can to head to Fayetteville rather than Lexington.Antigua decided to take the guaranteed salary at Arkansas and stay with Cal rather than wait it out with Pope and other teams …
Chin is going to Arkansas … Short ties are already packed …
Which begs the question, if Antigua the premier recruiter is responsible for the recruiting relationship of, let's say, 3 of the freshman 5 Stars that signed with Kentucky but that can now leave due to the coaching change, then why couldn't Antigua act like a free agent himself and sign on as an Assistant head coach at whatever school offers him and those 3 recruits the most money if he truly controls them through their parents or handlers? Since it is the Wild West out there right now, what is there to preclude this?
