I think if Booth comes in, and Amani follows Chester....it should make it crystal clear what happened IMO.
Guess my question was Chester left with no choice. Brad thinks Booth is better than Amani but is he that much better? Could Brad have won next year with the other transfers he is bringing in plus Amani. In other words could Brad have accommodated Chester by working with Amani? Plus always felt that Chester’s recruiting role was finding ‘diamonds in the rough’ instead of 5-stars like Fears who Chester could have easily closed also with Brad’s support. Of course the program is Brad’s responsibility and he runs it the way he wants but at the same time believe Chester wasn’t given support. Believe ultimately Chester was forced out.

I agree with this wholeheartedly. Seems like Chester's guy are developmental type players that can grow to be solid collegiate contributors during their Junior and Senior years. Brad's philosophy looks to have gone completely in the other direction. To me, he's looking for plug n play guys that make immediate impact and keep his team closer to the "old" category.

He's 100% in on the portal and he's ok letting Freshmen that don't want to go through "the process" walk. Part of me feels like the Skyy and Epps situations brought him to this point.

If you're Chester and it's your guys that continue to be transferring because of the portal process, it's your reputation. After a while, it's tough to go into a house and recruit like that.

From the outside, it looks like Brad and Chester may have philosophical differences on their approach to recruiting and that's perfectly fine.

It's just an old school versus new school way of thinking.

I’d agree with the above. Chester and BU not necessarily in sync on how to build a roster.

And Chester and BU really have no immediate, close connections to begin with.

You could be somewhat right but these philosophies are not mutually exclusive. Chester's guy could have stayed and still developed into solid collegiate contributors their Junior and Senior years.

I think this makes sense other than that our current haul of portal players are not old at all. They are all the same class as Amani.

We made elite 8 this year using 3 portal starters - TSJ, Marcus, Quincy, Brad is HC and wants to be BT champions next year so he is getting the best players he can in the portal. The reality is at top 10 programs you get recruited over every year. JMHO I don't think Chester was forced out. He just stated his opinion on how to run program and when it was not in agreement with his boss Brad's opinion Chester decided to leave. I am sure lot of what caused Brad to pivot to more portal was Miller, Skyy, Jayden, Pods, RJ and Dain transferring. The portal and NIL rules have changed roster building forever. Purdue was only upper echelon big 10 team who did not rely on portal. I wonder about how they will do without Edey. By the way it looks like Brad is one of the better HC in using the portal.

If it helps to end any further derailment, it never has been and never will be my intention to stir up some political angle in any direction on this board, any belief to the contrary is incorrect, and I am in total support of Dan's efforts toward keeping that stuff on the zillion other places on the internet where it belongs.

I didn't see that coming today and I will endeavor to see that you're all mad at me only about the Illini henceforth.

Carry on, we've got an assistant to hire.
It’s one thing that you feel fine with what you said and with your intent behind it, but it doesn’t mean others are. Frankly, apologizing would’ve gone a lot farther than you saying you didn’t mean to be “political” and we should all move on.

Despite your knowledge of upsetting a lot people due to your poor choice of words and questionable motivation, you chose not to man up, be a respectful human being and offer an apology. This makes me think you seriously lack emotional intelligence or else the motivation for your unwise statements was truly insidious. *Ignored*

Well, at least we know Skyy and Epps isn’t a BU problem because they both have transferred again. Grass is greener kinda guys.

Don’t believe that you will ever hear the answer from U of I. However, the insiders will be able to provide clues eventually.
Maybe things need to be finalized at WVU before they can make an announcement. This all unfolded right before the weekend, so university systems and process didn't take place yet.
