I really hope we just move forward and try not to over analyze what may or may not have happened between Brad and Chester. I realize this is a fan board and speculation is a reason this exists, but I’d prefer to just think it was a situation where everyone needed something different and the chips fell well for all involved.

I agree but…

Could kinda see that all season on the sidelines by Chester's proximity to Brad.
It had to be a Tyler/Chester thing. What was Chester’s title? Associate Head Coach? Then you have Tyler sitting right next to Brad talking to him all game.

And, I am fine with it. Tyler seems to be very good.

Gotta give props to Whitman. This could never happen without his willingness to put up the money.
Agreed. Whitman appears to completely understand the direction of collegiate athletics and the financial aspects (plus the personal desire for our school to succeed). Just like all my (and many of yours I'm sure) years in corporate America or running a business you have to consider the return on your investment and the value of every team member's contribution. BTW, I think Brad clearly gets that as well.

Can we agree to not crap on our legacies on this board? No? Yeah, I guess that was asking too much.

Chester will always be an Illini to me. He played to the best of his abilities when he was here and he appeared to get as many quality kids as he could while he coached here. For that I am thankful.

I personally don’t think anyone is doing that. Seems that saying Antigua is a better assistant to have in staff is not a slam to Chester. To say that Chester and Brad had differences in opinion on how to recruit/ build roster is not crapping on Chester.

Hopefully in 10 years, Chester is a big time head coach that we’d be interested in bringing in.

Bad take. No one has crapped on Chester.

We can be thankful for what Chester has done as a player, coach and alum, not thrilled with his tweets since he left, and happy yet again that we have OA on our staff instead of Chester. We can feel all of these things at the same time. None of these are mutually exclusive.

Cognitive dissonance at its finest.

Kentucky being classy? Well, color me pleasantly surprised. Thank you, Kentucky fans.
To be fair, those are basically passive aggressive swipes at Calipari. So let’s not call them too classy…maybe just not totally classless 😂😂

Edit: whoops, just saw @EyeoftheIllini already covered this, haha!

After reading through this entire thread this morning, I think the most important topic introduced was the need, or not, of indentifying sarcasm or intended humor. This is something that may need more of our attention. I have usually been pretty good intentifying the humor/sarcasm versus an intended caustic comment. But, there have been several examples recently (not just this thread) that have me wondering if I'm missing the joke or is this post serious? There sures seems to be an influx lately, or I just don't follow closely enough. I certainly don't have the capability to remember all the posters handles, but I do know the ones that always catch my attention positively. And there alot of you. But ...I might start using the emoji's more often just to be safe myself.
