Why are all the Greater Chicagoland jobs such graveyards? Loyola seems to be the only exception and only achieved that very recently.
Niu is mysterious to me. My sons go there and work in athletic department as well. I just don’t understand how Niu is as bad at hoops as they have been for a long long time. Enough talent in that area to at least field respectable teams.

One issue I think is they are much more of a football school and the resources they have go that direction. Just a guess on my part.

You can sum up NW issue with one word!

They’ve cracked the much harder code (football)! I also don’t get it

I don't see Texas going on the unproven head coach route, so that would exclude Royal Ivey. I guess they hand Todd Golden a blank check first then go after Sean Miller if that doesn't work.

Del Conte was secretly hoping for a loss. He got his wish. Press conference in 3,2,1..........

Texas job will be officially open today but it’s been open all season …

At this point, I’ll be shocked if it’s not one of Sean Miller, Todd Golden, Royal Ivey or Brad Underwood …

Those are the 4 names every single person I’ve talked to has mentioned …

All of those CBB coaches have similar buyouts …

Turned on the TV yesterday and what out of the blue was on? NC vs Illinois 2001 Sweet 16 game... Self vs Williams it was an omen!

3 of those guys are proven winners in CBB, one is not. If I'm Del Conte I'm making the safe bet.

I don’t think it’ll be Ivey … But he’s being mentioned … Boosters want him interviewed …

I’ll be interested to see if CDC makes the move quick or he waits to see if he can reel in the big fish with Golden …

If Golden does leave Florida … Brad & Sean would both be in the mix there as well …

If Sean does leave Xavier … I’ll be absolutely shocked if it’s not Chris Mack replacing him …

Pretty sure the negotiations have already begun with all 4. If TG says yes then he will wait if he's the preferred guy. They'll have their guy locked down pretty soon IMO.

This SI article lists Nate Oats, Ostelberger, Royal Ivey, Sean Miller, Quin Snyder. https://www.si.com/college/texas/me...head-coach-hot-board-rodney-terry-sean-miller

This one lists a Sean Miller,
scott Drew and a bunch of nba coaches. Seems like Sean Miller might be the top priority?

Not at all likely, I get that, but:

If Sean Miller goes to Texas, and Golden goes out west, and Brad goes to Florida, who is on Josh's shortlist at that point?

You still gotta factor in that Illinois hasn't exactly locked down the state and NIU is not even in the top 4 (now top 5 with the emergence of SIUE) of mid-majors within the state. So to field a team, they've gotta convince guys that may be role players at best case Illinois and worst case Loyola or DePaul to come there and build something.....after also turning down the same sale at Illinois State, Bradley, and SIU. And that's just within Illinois and not taking into account other programs like SLU, IN State, UWM (both wisc & michigan), etc.

I have zero knowledge and this is just fan speculation as someone who watches CBB. I absolutely despise Mick Cronin. But he can coach and he wants out of UCLA... not saying that's your first call, but you could do worse in hiring a proven winner.. this is of course assuming the scenario outlined above where you can't get Sean Miller or Golden etc. Buzz Williams would need to be on that list IMO, but I don't think he's leaving Texas. Assuming JW can get past the off the court "issues"... gotta have Beard in the mix too. I don't need a nice guy, I want to win..

Texas will call Oats … He’ll say no … I continue to hear watch for him to go to Kansas when Self is done …

I mentioned Snyder on here a long time ago … He’s just way down the list … I don’t think it gets that far …

Scott Drew didn’t take Kentucky or Louisville … He’s not taking a job in the same state he’s already in …

I would say Sean is the priority at this point …

Cronin and Buzz would never coach here … Josh wouldn’t consider either of them …

That’s a wild scenario … But one you have to definitely consider …

Wade would be on the list … Beard would be on the list … McCasland would be on the list … Byington would be on the list … Mack would be on the list …
