No mid major HC job opportunities out east for Chester yet?
There might be as there will be multiple openings due to coaches at high majors either getting fired or retiring. Barnes could retire, Self could retire. Few might retire as well. Terry is most likely to be fired at UT. Cronin wants out of UCLA, IU and Iowa have openings. WV could be open if DeVries takes either the Iowa or IU job. UNLV fired Kruger’s kid. Johnson out at Minny. Nova fired their coach. Moser might want out at OU. This might be the craziest of coach shuffling we have ever seen. Coaches like Wade, Miller, McCollum will find bigger jobs this offseason. Play the music and watch musical chairs. It’s going to be fascinating.

But would a kid want to go to EIU for a year? Or Western? It would be a great strategy for a team like Eastern to have a couple of guys who aren’t ready for Illinois to play there. They become better with better talent. Would Illinois pay NIL money to stash a kid for a year at Eastern? Interesting question.
No, because they have zero guarantees of anything. If they go to EIU and don't excel, they are not going to have a spot at Illinois the following year. Teams are just going to try and grab the best available 10 players or so every year and then replace whomever with whatever gets them there the following year. Sit at the end of a bench somewhere as an 11, 12, 13th man and you have greater assurances about maintaining a scholarship spot the following year if you've improved enough to be a rotation player.

Groce is probably just content where he's at, but I don't think he'd be a bad power conference hire. People do seem to forget that his tenure at Illinois was marked with a ton of bad luck with runnerup in recruiting races, injuries/player discipline, a cheap athletic department, the impetus to changing out of bounds forever. I think under the right circumstances, he can do well in a bigger location, he's clearly shown himself to be the King of the MAC.

Nova has kicked the tires on Groce …

Especially with the chest bump of Eric Gordon. That will get rehashed again. I seriously doubt that CF would ever take a position at IU. But Alford did take the Iowa gig.

Just like any other public place where people communicate with each other. You always have means to vet what is and isn't trustworthy.
Not really true. You always should try to vet information sources, but that's different than having the means. This is the role trusted journalism is supposed to play in society. An outlet builds up trust, which lends validity to their reporting. That's why it's so dangerous that so many media outlets lean hard into opinion because it pays better.

Wouldn't Drake be a downgrade from Oklahoma? Unless Moser is more comfortable being the big fish in a little pond.

Moser saved his job this year … Down year next year and he’s done …

Fresh opportunity with a brand new contract … Pretty attractive … And I think Oklahoma wouldn’t be that upset if he left and may even waive part of the buyout …

Makes sense. The early season hype for Oklahoma this year was crazy with their soft non-con.. if I recall right they were even in the top 10 at one point.

Get ready for all the media members to take what I put on here about DeVries and IU and “break the news” … 😂😂

From what I’m told, expect an announcement this week …

Dolson is not having much luck with his big fish he was after … Can’t afford to tick off DeVries and then McCollum has another job lined up and IU is SOL … Have to make a decision by Thursday …
Goodman confirmed board reader 😂

Honestly, why not? I mean he's proven himself pretty well over at Akron and it's obvious he's learned a lot since Illinois. He was pretty green as a HC still when we got him, but as usual Thomas just jumped the gun. I think he'd actually be ready for a higher level gig now.
He doesn't seem like a Main Line guy.

Indy is flippin' amazing, I'm not sure why he posts here instead of getting hired by ESPN, CBS, or basically anywhere else that covers college sports.....his daytime job must pay way, way, way better than any of those sites.

Thanks for all the info.

Did you not see his previous post?

He's literally floating in his pool talking on his Vintage 1989 AT&T cordless phone, drinking rum punch.

Working on his tan. Or yellow...maybe? Doh!

Why would he ever leave that?

My guess. If Indy were to give his inside information to main stream media his would sources go silent pretty quickly.
