I've always wondered if Chris would take the job after Brad...They seem to be buddies and known each other since JUCO coaching days. I'd assume it's all business at some point but..

Ole Miss is paying Chris more than Brad, although marginally. Im unaware of their facility situation/NIL etc. SEC is comparable with BIG in terms of prestige and competitiveness nationally.

What is the sell for him? Illinois has a better shot of winning in their conference IMO.

Certainly, the fanbase/donors care about winning and will do whatever it takes to achieve that.

It may require proving it at a higher program but Alan Huss just seems like he is destined for big things. He has been talked about on this board the past few years and has been very impressive in his two years leading High Point. I wonder what the buyout for him would be compared to some of the other names being mentioned.

The University of Illinois cut ties with Kendrick Nunn when he strangled his girlfriend. I doubt Josh would hire a coach of whom there are more than credible reasons to believe beat his girlfriend as well.

We do have a system. A pretty good one on offense. A pretty bad one on defense. The variability is due to the youth and inexperience. I've posted the data a couple times, but over the last 6 years, we've been one of the most consistent programs in the country. The list of programs who have been unequivocally better than us in that time span is short.

I think the "Brad needs great players" rhetoric is confusing. Is the request that he stop recruiting great players? I don't get it. Literally every good program / coach relies on great players. If nothing else, Brad has shown an ability to attract those great players regularly. If TSJ would've gone to Michigan, we would have found another guy to plug in.

But the question is, can we keep climbing higher than where we are now? I think we can but (this is where you and I agree) we do need to prioritize roster continuity more.
Wisconsin under Bo Ryan? His FF run came with a great, home developed, player. He hit the S16 50%, and the E8 25%.

And just so anyone doesn’t make irrational comparisons, the police report in the Beard case was handled in a professional and credible manner, as opposed to the police report in the TSJ case, which was written a month after the fact, incorrectly backdated, and was riddled with contradictory charges. There is good reason to believe the Beard report as much as the TSJ raised obvious skeptical red flags.

I do not care as much about conference titles or records beyond what they do for NCAA seeding. March Madness is the big stage and I hate the feeling of watching other teams continue their seasons in the second and third weekend of the tourney while pondering woulda/coulda/shoulda questions for the Illini.

One more underwhelming year IMO …

Whitman has heard from donors about staff changes … I expect that to happen … To what extent ??? I don’t know … I’d like 3 new coaches … I think minimum we get 1 …
When ZERO other schools have any interests in hiring these 3 assistant coaches, you might want to reconsider what you are doing. They should be assistant coaches for a D2 school, not the UNIVERSITY OF ILLINOIS.

He actually had at least one NBA player on his roster all 15 years he was at Wisconsin.

He had at least two NBA players in 13/15 years at Wisconsin.

He was pre-portal so it's hard to compare, but to your point, he was good at developing under-the-radar guys in addition to having a few highly rated recruits.

He was a better version of Painter, IMO.

I can look past them both going farther in the tournament then us. I'm not that petty

Changes or new additions? IE add someone like Yak, Boynton or add someone and someone like Hamer gets the boot?

When are we going to see staff changes? We need people in the building who can help with evaluating talent. Not to mention the X & O's issues.

If the Twitter/X rumors are true, and players are partly leaving because of the assistant coaches, Josh needs to step in immediately to stop the bleeding. Recruiting from the portal is tough enough without portal players hearing these rumors as the OP suggested. Plus, a question: will Bam stay if he’s the only one left if Tomi goes to the Draft?

Really? I'm forgetting people. Who were the NBA players that I'm forgetting and rough years if you can remember?
