I, respectfully, disagree with the bolded portion. Some opinions are not worthy of respect. If someone says the Earth is flat, I’m under no obligation to respect that person or his position. Likewise, when someone suggests the co-winningest coach in the B1G the last six years who’s recruiting at a level never seen before at Illinois is on the hot seat, I feel no obligation to respect that opinion either.
Thats great except that’s not an opinion. Facts are different from opinion. Most things on here are opinions. That people don’t understand what is fact and what is opinion anymore is actually the problem you actually are illustrating (in my opinion).

Wanna bet? Brad is locked in for however long Brad wants to be locked in for. It would have to be a complete meltdown of epic proportions and the trajectory (recruiting) of the program would have to be taking a nose dive. That's obviously not happening.

I laugh when people criticize last year as being a disaster. Yes, a 6 seed, a tournament win and a loss versus Kentucky......just awful.
I've been pretty pro Brad because I think it would be difficult to get a proven upgrade but let's not pretend like it would take some epic meltdown or change of trajectory to see Brad get put on the hot seat.

Another middle of the Big10 season and first round exit this year will get the fanbase fired up. If say the next two seasons are both first weekend exits or worse then his seat will be absolutely he warm.

The truth of the modern NIL basketball landscape is that if you lose the donors youre going to lose your job. A couple more first weekend exits in a row and that elite 8 run would start to feel like a fluke.

1 second weekend appearance in 7 years is not going to make him very popular and there would be a lot of questions of if he reached his ceiling here.

Now I'm not saying that is going to happen(I like the off-season and I'm excited for this season), but it also wouldn't take an extreme change of trajectory in the program to end up there imo.

The issue has been they dominate the bad teams early in the year in those 5-6 Q4 home games we always schedule and then by the time big ten season starts and there’s scouting involved, we regress.
T-Rank allows you to sort by date.

From November 27 (the day before the stretch of #20 Arkansas, Northwestern, #16 Wisconsin, #5 Tennessee, and Missouri) through the end of the season, our defense was ranked… wait for it… 39th.

Our defense on the season was ranked 42nd.

There are a lot of people here really undervaluing what Underwood brings to the table. Like absurdly so.

Not to pick knits, but even here you said, :"...see Brad get put on the hot seat." The OP was suggesting that Brad would be fired after this season, which would imply he is on the hot seat now.

Which is about as factually inaccurate as an opinion can get.

So many issues with this table. I assume he means best to worst. Wisconsin and Iowa are way overrated in this listing (looks to be a Badger write up).

But:

As he ranks Illini appropriately :)

And talk about how good the major two sports looks to outsiders. Such a change from when Josh took charge.

The person who claims the Earth is flat would not say the opposite is a fact. Just like people claiming Brad Underwood is on the hot seat are presenting that absurd opinion as a fact.

Young assistants just like young players will grow and develop. There is obviously something BU sees in Hamer that would make him stick with him. And just maybe he will improve.
He’s had plenty of time. He’s not progressing. I wish it wasn’t true, but reality is what it is.

My entire disagreement was with the guy saying Brad has however long he wants to be here and that it would take a drastic change in the program to see him on the hot seat.

I think if this coming year ends up like last year or that Mayer team and a first weekend exit that seat starts to warm up. Two years in a row of that and the seat gets uncomfortably warm and I wouldn't be surprised to see him gone. Three years of that and he's gone imo.
