If you're not just box-score watching, you'd know that McCamey definitely regressed from his Junior year to his Senior year. He went from 1st Team All B1G the previous year and potentially B1G POY Darkhorse to only making the 3rd team. That 10-11 team was supposed to be a FF contender because of the anticipated Sr year leaps from all of our top guys and they all fell flat. Meechi was literally the only player Bubbles ever had at UI that even made a 1st team All Conference (sans Self's guys) and somehow you think Weber was great at developing players lol

Your whole argument is based on a single year of one player's team-success-based awards now?

I don't know why this discussion seems to have offended you so much, again its really off topic anyway so I'll simply rest my case on the facts I've already presented

Ummm, maybe because you yourself used Meechi as an example of Webers supposed player development prowess by simply comparing his frosh stats to his senior year stats and I was explaining again why you were mistaken.\

Anyways, you're right that we're off topic....Bubbles is a bad high-major coach and Brad is a great one, we can leave it at that lol

You were the one that brought up Demetri, I just said you mentioning him helped my argument, which I still think is true. He was terrible as a freshman. Junior to senior year you're talking points are more correlated to team performance. Anyway, now we're even branching out new conversation topics from the one that was already off topic so this is awesome lol.

claiming cause in this situation is absurd beyond belief. I can't imagine anyone good working for K State after this.
Somebody will take the job because money talks, but if they’re any good they’ll use it as a stepping stone or maybe hope they get lucky with an AD change.

I’d also negotiate for rock solid language around what constitutes for cause.

Lol can we prove these two posters aren't literally Bruce Weber and Demetri McCamey?

But this really is flashing me back to those old days of arguments and the enraging slipperiness of the Weber people.

Let me just say, those arguments ultimately rested on people making claims about what was not possible or reasonable to expect at Illinois that would get laughed off the board today.

It proved to be a disaster in the end, but everything we needed to know about Brad Underwood was demonstrated in his first six weeks on the job when he walked in and just took Mark Smith from K and Izzo. The whole cosmology we'd taught ourselves about why we sucked just smashed and thrown in a dumpster, immediately.

Not to continue this dumpster fire of a sidebar, but the guy literally just said he thought Weber was pretty good at developing players and then everyone listed off a bunch of marginal recruits that played for him and went to the NBA and we think that hurts his argument lol

Then there’s a whole separate discussion that spiraled/birthed from it rehashing Webers entire tenure complete with Bubbles and Jarling mentions, which really had nothing to do with the original topic but reads like it is sourced from fans PTSD from said timeframe

Are you the AI summary function on this thread?

I think you nailed it.

After all the Tang talk, thought this was worth sharing. KSU fans think it’s Coleman’s voice talking. He’s telling a story about how Tang didn’t have them watch film before the Houston game last year. They lost by 30.

I spent four years loving every Hawk interview and thoroughly convinced he'd be a great game analyst one day. Pretty darn positive that's Coleman.

Tang gets fired with "cause" for 1/4th of what Cronin does on a daily basis. What was Cronin going to do? Start a fight with the reporter??

Yeah well, the guy is almost singlehandedly responsible for the destruction of our storied program for almost an entire decade, while he spent his last year and change whining to the media, complaining about his own players that he himself recruited, and trying to blame anyone but himself. All while being handed a program that was objectively running like a well oiled juggernaut positioned to stay at the top of the B1G right as Chicago-land was exploding in top talent (of which he managed to recruit for us a whopping none of them). Was too stubborn to realize you can't recruit SIU level talent, plug it into his supposed magic 'system' and still have success at this level. Then.. when admin and the fanbase finally had enough and forced Jerrance on him to actually recruit high-major players, he STILL couldn't get those guys to succeed. Still had time to publicly wish he had players like Robbie Hummel though!

Yeah, some of us remember the Weber years very well, at lease he was a nice guy at least!

I defended Webber for a few seasons, but once I saw what the detractors saw, it was a painful slog. I agree with your characterization. He was a dead man walking for a few years in my view, and the final season where his players quit on him made it undeniable. Was really sad to see all the fun and community around the program drop off. He had his strengths for sure, but his old school methodology and inability to deal with recruiting as it existed, destroyed momentum that others had built. Think about what he inherited - in his final 5 years he was 41- 49 in conference and won a single tournament game. K-State was similar. Had one nice run to the E8, and missed the tourney has last 3 years with a 13-41 conference record.

He ran a clean program and by all accounts was a stand up family man. As a high-major coach though....

Speaking of class act coaches. Last night in the MSU/UCLA game one of the Bruin players committed a flagrant foul out of frustration with the game completely out of reach, then called for flagrant 2. Mick Cronin sent his own player to the locker room which is something Tom Izzo refused to do9 with Jeremy Spears intentional tripping of players. Thank you, Mick, for trying to keep the integrity of the game intact. I sure hope Crumpled face IZZO WAS WATCHING AND LEARNED SOMETHING, NA HE DIDN'T HE IS ALL ABOUT WINNING AT ALL COST
