I don't like to give too much credence to all the crypto-Guentherism about Mike Thomas, but I think you'd have to say that since the Slush Fund, the only hire we've made with a "speculative" resume has been John Groce.

Bartow, Henson and Kruger had all recently been to Final Fours. Self was the hottest name in the business. Weber was a dominant mid-major coach over a sustained period who was well established in the league. Underwood was a mix of Self and Weber.
You omitted Harv Schmidt

The possibility of Dusty May already bailing out of Michigan for UNC will both be funny and the least surprising thing to hear considering it's Dusty May we're talking about. Didn't that whole Louisville situation with Dusty came down to Louisville thought they officially locked him in and then Dusty pulled a rug under their feet and did the switcheroo to Michigan?

McCollum & Byington are who I continue to hear for UNC …

Coming back to this … I really get the vibe it’ll be Byington at the end of the day … Just what I think it comes down to …

It won’t be a big splash and get a ton of media attention and A+ grades initially … But he would do really, really well there …

Can't we simply offer Dusty May instead? 😂🤣😅

I’m hearing John Groce to USF …
I don't understand the allure. He has a good think going in Akron. The American, while a slight step up, is still a single bid league. Financially, the job doesn't pay much, if any, more once due to cost of living differences. (A ~400k raise and Tampa costs vs. Akron costs; An equivalent Tampa house is probably 2-4M) Maybe he (or his wife) really wants to live in Tampa vs. Akron.

I don't know why McCollum would be on the list for UNC. He may be a good coach, but omg what a whiner. Or is that a possitive?
