Michigan moved to 12 to 1 to win it all on Fanduel after the news. Circa has hardly moved, +850. They were right around 8 to 1 everywhere before this news. I am surprised there hasn't been a sharper, more immediate reaction. Coaches have so much influence over a program at the college level, this has to seriously hurt their potential for this season.

The power of 1-way markets I suppose. 🤷‍♂️

What is the play here? Promote from within and give an interim coach a shot with some retained talent and whatever you can muster from the talent pool at hand. Then take the L for next season, with the “at least we won it all” attitude. And the. Next year get a better head coach hire and recruit when the transfer portal and high school recruiting is more opportune?

Basically what they did in football? Granted whoever they could sway away from another solid mid-major to high-major team can just bring that team with him, but still. This late makes things tough. I see Michigan wanting to play a longer game to get a quality guy rather than shooting from the hip just to maintain whatever they can from last year.

It's a trade most programs would probably take, but not damn near July. That's rough. Let's see who they throw some money at.

oh, interesting. schertz seems like a good dude, and i doubt he'd let his school and players twist in the wind like that. i'd think they go with an asst for the season, but what the hell do i know

Only reason I mention him was I think one of the insiders mentioned Schertz and May were extremely close, and if Dusty bolted for another job, he would be the replacement, but I may have not read that at all and just made it up.
