But, outside of an assistant like Boynton, who can you realistically get that doesn't derail the program? Billy Donovan? Brad Stevens will of course be thrown out there but he's not going anywhere.

Byington would seem like a great fit. But outside of that, not sure how many reasonably realistic names exist
Boynton as interim to try to calm things? Keep recruits. Trial run and possibly remove interim if he does well?

Michigan moved to 12 to 1 to win it all on Fanduel after the news. Circa has hardly moved, +850. They were right around 8 to 1 everywhere before this news. I am surprised there hasn't been a sharper, more immediate reaction. Coaches have so much influence over a program at the college level, this has to seriously hurt their potential for this season.

Yup they have 15 days to transfer, this 'mini window' opens up 5 days from now
What is the play here? Promote from within and give an interim coach a shot with some retained talent and whatever you can muster from the talent pool at hand. Then take the L for next season, with the “at least we won it all” attitude. And the. Next year get a better head coach hire and recruit when the transfer portal and high school recruiting is more opportune?
Basically what they did in football? Granted whoever they could sway away from another solid mid-major to high-major team can just bring that team with him, but still. This late makes things tough. I see Michigan wanting to play a longer game to get a quality guy rather than shooting from the hip just to maintain whatever they can from last year.

It does, 15 days for them to decide once the +5 days after the new coach is named (I believe)
