Bronco Mendenhall reported to move to Utah St from New Mexico after one year at the latter. His longtime OC Jason Beck takes same position at Utah. NM”s QB and WR also hit portal. Be interesting if they follow one of the two coaches or head somewhere else.

It's just one season. Nevertheless in that "long time" he got 5 wins. Vegas had his over under at 5.5.

I'm pretty agnostic on how he'll do long term. Maybe a few coaching changes will make a difference. But I think you might be one of the few in the country who thinks he's "pretty damn good."

What level of coaching genius has Bill Belichick ever displayed without Tom Brady? None that I know of. Anybody hiring him will likely regret it pretty quickly.

That's a giant loss for IU ...
Seems like an odd move. Prior relationship with Foster? Big pay bump? Cashing out before IU regresses? Cig’s is a jerk? He’s a west coast guy?

He already had an OC title on a team headed to the playoff. Coach just got a huge extension, I figured that would trickle down. Maybe it left less money for staff?

Appreciate any insight you’re able to share at this point.

No idea. Does he call plays now? If the other co-OC handles that, I could see that as a reason to move.

I don't get all the Belichick hate. Phil Jackson was a pretty good coach who only won with superstars too.
Or I could say that Bill Parcells could only win Super Bowls when he had Belichick coaching his defense.

The first three Patriots Super Bowls and team success were won because of defense and coaching. In their first Super Bowl, the Patriots offense scored 13 points and were still able to beat "The Greatest Show on Turf".

The Patriots teams of this era were good enough that Matt Cassell of all people at QB was able to get 11 wins.

If UNC were to hire Belichick, they will have fired a 73 year old to get a coach his junior by one year. I guess they would be hoping recruits (both HS and portal) would be flocking over solely because of the coaching pedigree of Belichick and getting them in the league. 2024 is such a strange year.

Personally, I would love to just see Belichick staying on in his first quarter role with the Manning brothers on MNF.
That philosophy sure worked for us with Lovie.

If it was me and I ran the Bears, Vrabel would be on the Chicago sideline ASAP.
Agreed. He seems like the type of guy who will run a competent football operation, while maybe then you can convince Thomas Brown to stay on as OC for continuity for Caleb. I feel like that is your best bet if you go down the path of experienced competent former HC route rather than the up and coming OC route.

Agreed. Tennessee must be out of their minds. Not even 50, 10 games of .500 in NFL with not alot to work with aside from Henry. Completely competent and his team's have an identity.

Ben Johnson over Vrabel. Vrabel I always liked but look at that lions offense. Bears can have a good offensive if the fix the line. They have excellent receivers. Caleb um ok maybe can work

Sorry, Dan this should probably be in the Bears thread.
I'm not going to sit here and pretend to be a Ben Johnson expert, but I think the last thing the Bears need is a shiny new object. Ben might be awesome or he might he rotten as Nagy was when the apple got a little to far from the tree. Is that a tolerable risk in Chicago? I'd rather take a known quantity. I don't live and breathe Bears football, but that is just what I see.
I like Ben Johnson more in Dallas than Chicago. That style of offense for 8-9 games indoors.
