Should’ve clarified a little more on my post …

The other one I was speaking of is Parker … You are correct … It would only be to advance his career … No lateral moves … And you can’t fault a guy for that …

CMU is interested and multiple smaller schools will call about making him DC …
I'd be curious to know who Burt has on the shortlist for O Line coaches..

You want more recruiting but want to give up Thad? Doesn't make much sense. He was the lead on Valentine and sealed the deal with Boyd.....RB has been a low priority on the recruiting trail the past 2 years as well.
You must get some chuckles reading the speculation and hot takes on here when presumably you have a much clearer picture of what is what.

People forget Brian is a very good O Line coach……
fine by me. here's another opportunity for you to laugh at an idiot posting here (i.e., me), but i have never been impressed with miller's results on the field (especially for as much as he was being talked up).
sorry if i missed it, but does miller going somewhere or is bret just letting him walk?

I actually think Bart is a good OL coach. I don’t know for sure if Bart is going anywhere. I just don’t think he likes the current landscape of college football

I think having someone who has coached at the B10 with strong ties to NW IL & WI isn't a bad thing.

As long as he's not OC.
The difference in his OC v. OL line coach roles is kinda like the semantic difference between commas and no commas in "Eats, shoots, and leaves."

I will lmao if we hire BF as OL line coach, Lunney eventually moves on, BF becomes the Belichick of OCs in that role at Illinois, and then we hang 70 on Iowa.

I say this as a Browns fan of the '80s and early '90s where Belichick was on training wheels as a HC after Modell fired Marty Schottenheimer.

I got it.

Illinois hires Ferentz for the OL. Kirk retires, Phil Parker says he's been doing this too long and also retires. Both of them, as a favor to Brian, come to Illinois as analysts.;)

Iowa comes to BB vs. BB going to Iowa! Iowa fans lose their :poop:

As someone who has had quite a bit of exposure to Iowa over the years (QC native, lived in various Iowa communities basically since 2002), I feel pretty comfortable saying Brian Ferentz's ceiling is as an offensive line coach. Even if he's away from his father, I just don't think he will ever escape the influence of Captain Conservative on his offensive philosophy.

And I'll admit this is petty, but as someone who also spent a ton of years living in Iowa (IC itself), it would be REALLY difficult to stomach that dude ever on our sidelines. My Hawkeyes friends would certainly have a good laugh at my expense, deserved or not. :ROFLMAO:

Once upon a time, I might have thought like that. But given our current head football coach has a tigerhawk tattoo on his calf, I'm well past that point.

The only person I still carry that level of disdain for (and will until I'm in the ground) is Bruce Pearl.

Is the bolded part have anything to do with the Aussie joke, "Why is the Koala the national animal of Australia? Because he eats(,) roots and leaves."

I'll let Pruman tell you what 'roots' is slang for in Australia.

Brian deserves the credit for that Donnall, Ferentz, James Daniels run of offensive line talent. Iowa's offense was pretty good for B1G West standards when he got there and the run game was a big part of it.

Brian also deserves the credit for the cratering of Iowa's offense and running game over the past six years, and that's a large enough sample that waving it away and point to past performance seems like a poor choice. He also was named by multiple ex-Hawkeyes for being a racist and involved in the Doyle discrimination lawsuits, including one of his own lineman. Lastly, he went to Maryland to be an offensive analyst and Locksley just had his worst offensive season in 7+ seasons. You could also say Iowa's offense (& offensive line) just had their best season in a long time, also the first year without Brian.
