I'm guessing the Iowa board will be chattering about Bielema.Do they stay in house and hire LeVar Woods

yea, not worried a bit about that![]()
Bielema committed to putting down roots, building long-term at Illinois: 'I wanted this to be my last rodeo'

I hope this is true. Bielema is really the ideal fit for a coach at Illinois. But for obvious reasons, I could see why Iowa would tug at him.![]()

Yeah, why would it be a good thing when a competitor fires a crappy coach?Bret’s tweet was about our commitment we got today not Walters getting canned
Great news for usIf I'm Purdue, I'm going after that Andy Kote-licky dude from Penn State. He's got a Purdue type offense.
It’s literally in his contract. It’s very hard for him to go to another Big Ten schoolI hope this is true. Bielema is really the ideal fit for a coach at Illinois. But for obvious reasons, I could see why Iowa would tug at him.
Just so we can create plenty of drama here or squelch it entirely. Is it in his contract that he can go to Iowa with relative ease but not to other Big Ten schools? Or is the difficulty for all Big Ten schools. It’s literally in his contract. It’s very hard for him to go to another Big Ten school
NoI would gladly welcome him back as DC if he didn't reveal himself to be a total jackwagon.
Woods is a natural candidate. I think Seth Wallace will also be heavily considered. They recently gave him an elevated title and a huge raise to keep him (Minnesota was eyeing him for a DC job). Ferentz chose him as the interim while he was suspended. He has excellent connections and is probably Iowa's best recruiter in Chicagoland.Do they stay in house and hire LeVar Woods
I get it, and you're very likely right. I just still have too many memories of when Kansas basketball came open in 2003. That was probably the one job that Bill Self realistically could have left Illinois for, and it happened to come open because Roy Williams left for his alma mater. Iowa would very likely be the only school that Bret Bielema would realistically consider leaving Illinois for, and I just am wired to think about worst-case scenarios having been a lifelong fan and then a student at Illinois in the mid to late 1990s.It’s literally in his contract. Kansas was a better job and Self would've left no matter what, but he also had a poor relationship with GuentherI get it, and you're very likely right. It just takes some time (OK, maybe a lot of time for some of us) to change deep-seated thought patterns about the beloved, but I'm getting there.![]()
Some of the Purdue locals call it La La land. Both have their merits.
Or the guys that went with him.![]()
Those bridges have been completely burned to the ground. Can't imagine a phone call being made, but if it was, I would expect Bret to hang the phone up.

I am a lifelong Illinois fan and received my undergrad at the beloved but went to grad school at Purdue. I was so nervous that I would refer to Purdue as "Purdont" during my grad school interview. Thankfully I interviewed with an Illini alum so I was ok even if I messed up.
can anyone fill me/some of us in on what walters did and said? i do remember him knocking our crowd size, which, fair enough (although we’ve had a rough 25 years for the most part).
