He accomplished a ton.

But reputation is not a list of someone's accomplishments, it's what people remember. I always find the arts to be an interesting case study in this. Somerset Maugham was a prolific author who sold more books than James Joyce. I've never read any of them and I bet none of you have either. He died 60 years ago and is already pretty much lost to history. On the other hand, Joyce died 85 years ago, people still read his work, and will still be reading his work in another 100 years.

A lot of people are going to remember the latter NE years and the clown show that is his tenure at UNC.
However I will back you in the pop culture part of this argument. Example the Venn Diagram of "90s Bands With a Number 1 Hit" and "90s Bands People Remember" will surprisingly little overlap.

I don't think people will remember this UNC run by Belichick unless it turns out to be way, way worse than previously thought. Do anybody really Jimmy Johnson as Dolphins coach, Bill Walsh's second Stanford run, or Vince Lombardi's Redskins run? Heck Lombardi died while he was Redskins coach. I would not be surprised if asked this board "name me a team that Bruce Bochy won a World Series managing" most people here would not even the team he won with two years ago.
Well this isn’t aging well right now.

10 years from now Bill will be remember as the greatest NFL coach of his era, or maybe any era for that matter. No one is going to come close to his 6 Super Bowl championships. Very few will remember this year at UNC . . . which is actually a sad postscript to his NFL career.

I seriously am shocked at how far Bill has fallen …
He’s ruined his legacy … At least in my eyes …
Post Tom Brady at NE (or BB record without TB)
2020 7-9
2021 10-7
2022 8-9
2023 4-13

Meanwhile Brady wins Super Bowl at Tampa without BB
2020 11-5 Super Bowl champs
2021 13-4
2022 8-9
