Well I know Bret is a loyal person and friend to his staff.

I think everyone loves Aaron as a person but I think every Illini fan was frustrated with our defensive play. Wasn’t it after the Washington game that Bret put his hand to the defensive side?

But at least now we WILL see DB and LB blitz plays again!

If I was the one making hires ...

DC - Charlie Bullen
RB - Thomas Hammock
TE - Josh Stepp
STC - Ben Miller or Scott Fountain
there 3 open positions right now?
Ahen, Ward, Discher

will one of these listed be an analyst position like ST?
Or 1 more staff member leaving?

There is no more staff limits for on field instruction ... With recruiting it is Bret + any 10 staffers he wants at any given time ... So that is why we see Nate, Pat, Art, and Black Cat on the road right now ...

So we can expand the staff to whatever Bret wants and we have the money to do so ... So if Bret wants to go get an DC, RB, TE, STC, and a Safeties coach ... Which I think he does ... He can ... And it's within the rules ...

I think what I said above is right ... Someone correct me if I am wrong ... I can't keep up with all these rules ...

It DID happen after a few down years in a row...for the defense! Definitely a Brett movement to tighten things up.

No way this won't result in a better outcome,,,,

There’s no limit on coaches able to do on field coaching anymore so it doesn’t really matter.
You’re right lol

I’m shocked that BB didn’t have the DC hire unofficially wrapped up a week ago (or a month ago).

I hate to say it, but my initial reaction is definitely relief...

From DC of Illinois to a co-defensive coordinator and defensive backs coach at Notre Dame.....sounds a bit like a step down

If you can’t get Bullen I would go for Seth Wallace. To bad we didn’t go for LeVar Woods if we knew discher was leaving.

If Charlie comes back I’m assuming he would go back to coaching olb. So that would leave an opening a safety.
Wallace is HCIW at Iowa. Don't think we could get him, Minnesota tried to get him for DC and Iowa gave him that huge raise and the AHC title
