Yep … Gabe Jacas is just horrible …
All I know is that I wanted Bret to make some changes in the coaching staff. Especially the dc and he has done that. I had no clue on who would be a good dc but Brets choice sure surprised a lot of others who did know of some good dc candidates out there. Now we'll just have to wait and see how it all works out.

Good lord, welcome to life.
Hate that I sound like I'm OLD... which of course I am... BUT.... In my experience the only things that are guaranteed are: death and taxes... welcome to life indeed... !!

Defense should always be exciting - 84-85-86 Bears as examples.

Sorry if repetitive… but has anyone looked at the Montana roster or know the roster well enough to see if they have any defensive studs that may come along?

I think the bigger issue is how in the world is a GA going to sell the vision of a room/program compared to the actual coach. Idk about you but if im getting recruited by a guy who's not my coach. I am taking that as a bad sign and am not going to that school.

What GA is out recruiting? BL isn’t active on the recruiting trail and that hasn’t stopped us from bringing in talent on offense.

Well, considering we currently have like 6 coaches, GA's and other assistant coaches are definitely out there recruiting for us right now. And have we? We are ranked like 59th in the transfer portal rankings. We landed a good QB and a decent WR. Didn't land a stud on the OL or TE.

We did not land a single 4-star transfer on either side of the ball. I think not having coaches on the trail and being late to make a move on the DC hurt us. Not sure how you could argue otherwise. The offense also had a better sell going into the offseason, so of course they would do better. We have had a bunch of players commit to coaches who are no longer here. To a former DC who's not even here anymore. It was just not a clean offseason. Idk what went on with partridge, but putting all your eggs in one basket and basically punting on the portal and coaching staff hiring till after the super bowl did not really pay any dividends.

EDIT: and before people tell me i don't know the recruiting rules. I am well aware of the way it works. I also can see the results and they did not match the success we have had on the field. Simply put. So, the players aren't buying it either.

Really crazy that people think we did something right this offseason. The whole timing was a cluster and it hurt the roster.

Tell me you don’t understand the new ncaa staffing rules without telling me
I think you have made your silly point clear. Any coach can go out and recruit. Considering we have the 59th ranked portal class. How do you think that strategy went? WE GET IT. You will never say a word about the staff that isn't positive. Maybe let someone else get a word in that wants to be more pragmatic?

Position coach's aren't only recruiting for their position, that's why this whole thing works. The guys who are good recruiters are already doing it for the entire team. Most staffs only have a couple of those guys as it is and the rest of the coaches are mostly supplemental on that end. Obviously as a recruit you want to have SOME relationship with your position coach, and we saw how a negative one can impact recruiting for the TEs, but ultimately they aren't always the one making the initial pitch or building interest in the first place.

We also have the #24 ranked 2026 class which is our highest ranked recruiting class in almost 20 years. Ahead of Iowa and Indiana:

I was clearly talking about transfer portal rankings, not high school commits. Especially now that many of the coaches those players committed to have left, it’s naive to think they’ll just wait around when a new staff comes in and brings its own guys. I don’t see how high school rankings contradict my argument at all. The reality is this offseason has been handled poorly.
